Today we’re sharing a real-life couple’s elopement photoshoot! Not only is this lovely destination wedding inspiration to start off your week, but it’s also a preview of our Spring 2019 cover/issue, which hits newsstands February 5, 2019. This elopement photoshoot was submitted to us by the talented folks at Crosby + Jon Design. Crosby + Jon Design put together this shoot for real-life couple Lauren and James at the Grand Velas Los Cabos resort.
James and Lauren’s design team at Crosby + Jon scoured venues for the couple’s sailboat elopement before ultimately deciding on Grand Velas Los Cabos resort. The resort is relatively new to the Los Cabos scene and is known for taking the all-inclusive concept to the next level. It doesn’t hurt that the high-end resort’s style also perfectly suited the team’s “chic, coastal vibe” they were after for the photoshoot. Crosby + Jon describes Grand Velas Los Cabos as “a gorgeous setting of contemporary architecture, exotic landscapes and peaceful interiors.”
The dramatic views of the Sea of Cortez also meant that Grand Velas Los Cabos made for the perfect host and backdrop for Lauren and James’ sailboat elopement. Once the venue was decided, the design team needed to find the perfect sailboat setting for the romantic couple. “Tu Enamorado was the perfect find,” says Crosby + Jon, “The 75-foot sailboat displayed gorgeous, natural wood deck and paneling with a stunning white contrast.” The bride was styled in a trendy, two-piece bridal gown by Rminé, while the groom was more casual, but Mexico-appropriate, in a white linen shirt and shorts by Ralph Lauren.
The bride’s two-piece gown brought the drama for this elopement photoshoot. The design team styled the bride and describes her look. “The sleeveless fitted top with a sheer appliqué lace was paired with a full-volume skirt with matching lace overlay. Zoë Elizabeth, our go-to Mexico makeup and hair artist, worked her magic on Lauren with a natural, matte face and a low pony.” The team brought Jeremy Chou Photography on board (no pun intended) to capture the photos on film. The overall goal was to capture Lauren and James’ intimate elopement at sunset with a chic, coastal vibe.
The couple and their vendor team set sail from the Cabo San Lucas marina. The photographer, Jeremy Chou was conveniently located on a second yacht that sailed alongside the couple on the Tu Enamorado. Thankfully, the weather cooperated and the group got just the setting they were after. “Once at our destination, Jeremy began to capture the dusk light filtering through the clouds and onto the picturesque scene before us,” says the Crosby + Jon team. “Lauren and James, secluded on a commanding sailboat, slowly parted through the vibrant blue waters.”
Once capturing the overall scene, the photographer came aboard to capture some intimate moments between the newlyweds. Luckily for the couple and vendor team, everything came together beautifully for this elopement photoshoot. Crosby + Jon raved about the experience, calling it “one of the most romantic compositions we have ever had the pleasure to produce.” I tremendous ‘thank you’ to the couple and their team for sharing this lovely photoshoot with us! Once again, stay tuned for Destination I Do’s Spring 2019 issue, which hits newsstands 2/5/19, and on which one of these images will appear on the cover!
