This summer, plan an unforgettable bachelorette party for the bride-to-be. Rather than a typical girls’ night out, why not head to one of the country’s best summer festivals? We asked The Bach founder and all-around bachelorette party expert Joanne Barken to point out the top 10 bachelorette-worthy summer festivals to fit any type of bride.
For the Music Loving Bride
- Bonnaroo (June 12 – 15, 2014)
Held on 700 acres in rural Tennessee, this music festival attracts 80,000 people. Expect plenty of free spirits, Southern hospitality and an awesome summer camp vibe. It’s the perfect event for a bride that loves the jam band scene.
- What the Festival (June 19 – 22, 2014)
This offbeat festival in the Pacific Northwest features DJs spinning Electronic Dance Music (EDM), spectacular views, campgrounds and an emphasis on sustainability. Bring the bride who loves being green.
- Firefly Music Festival (June 19 -22, 2014)
Here you will find the East Coast version of Coachella. Expect a variety of musical talent, cool art installations and a farmer’s market with fresh produce. Camp out with the girls and dress the part in hippie-inspired outfits.
- Electric Daisy Carnival (June 20-22, 2014)
Nicknamed “American Ibiza,” this EDM festival rivals those in Europe. Head to Las Vegas with the girls this summer and take in the music along with ongoing performances by dancers, stilt-walkers, clowns and more.
- Lollapalooza (August 1- 3, 2014)
Expect a mix of grunge, alternative rock, rap and punk music and more than a few mosh pits. Channeling a Woodstock vibe, this festival is known for its emphasis on community building. Bring the bride to Chicago this summer for great music and the chance to crowd surf.
For the Foodie Bride
- Taste of Chicago (July 13-19, 2014)
This annual food extravaganza features everything from hot dogs to delicacies from Chicago’s top restaurants. Stroll by the food booths for delicious samples and cooking tips from celebrity chefs. Save time to catch some of the festival’s musical performances as well.
- Food & Wine Classic in Aspen (July 20-22, 2014)
Head to Aspen for 3 days packed with fabulous cooking demonstrations, tasting events and seminars. Your bachelorette crew can work off some of the decadent meals by hiking in the gorgeous Rocky Mountains.
- Maine Lobster Festival (July 30 – August 4, 2014)
This is a seafood lover’s delight! You will find New England’s freshest lobster, clams, scallops, haddock, crab, mussels and calamari. In between noshing on lobsters, browse the arts and crafts tent for pieces by local artists.
For the Unique Bride
- America’s Freedom Festival (July 4- 6, 2014)
Celebrate Independence Day with the girls in Utah and one-up a fireworks display. At this beautiful Balloon Fest, 25,000 spectators gather to watch magnificent hot air balloons soar above.
- Comic-Con (July 24- 27, 2014)
If the bride is a comic book buff, don’t miss out on San Diego’s Comic-Con. This famous geekfest provides a fun opportunity to dress up in costume, meet celebrities, try out new video games and catch screenings for upcoming films.
