On a tiny island off the coast of Riviera Maya in Mexico, sunlight sparkling off the crystal-clear turquoise waters, Viviana and David exchanged their vows, marking the start of their forever love story.

Isla Mujeres is famous for its elegance, luxurious beaches, and is perfect for an unforgettable, tropical wedding experience. But for Viviana and David, the destination is so much more than that. Viviana even calls Isla Mujeres “Love Island.”

“Isla Mujeres was always our getaway place to find our balance as a couple,” Viviana says. “Our work life and traveling sometimes got us quite disconnected, so when we felt it, we just packed some shorts, bikinis, flip-flops, and jumped on the ferry to take a break from everything!”

With some guests traveling thousands of miles to attend their destination wedding–coming from England, Scotland, Ireland, Cuba, Mexico, New York City, and even Australia–Viviana and David put every effort into creating a memorable experience for their friends and family. With Isla Mujeres as their destination, this task was not too difficult to accomplish, and all of their guests were thrilled to celebrate at a beach resort oasis.

“We couldn’t be happier to see them all hanging out as one big group of friends for a week in paradise!” the couple says.

Viviana and David held two ceremonies–a Celtic one and a Mayan blessing–as the groom is Scottish and the bride is Mexican. With the Caribbean Sea at their backs and their friends and family showering them with smiles, Viviana and David exchanged their vows and took part in centuries-long traditions, sealing their love for years to come.

“I can’t even describe how amazing of an afternoon and night it was,” Viviana says. “I don’t say it just because it was our wedding, but because it was truly great in every sense!”

Viviana and David describe their destination wedding in Isla Mujeres as an unbelievably great party. Their reception was stunningly elegant, lit by candlelight, decorated with white flowers, and overflowing with love from friends and family. Every one of their guests had the best time, dancing the night away underneath a blanket of stars, with live music accented by the sounds of the sea. Viviana and David enjoyed every second of their wedding.

“We basically wanted to give our guests the best weekend possible, some of them traveled across the world to get there,” the couple says. “We succeeded, thankfully!”
