With guests visiting from around the world, newlyweds Marcos and Sarah chose a St. Augustine destination wedding for the historical interest and abundance of activities. “Everyone was very excited about our wedding and the location,” says the couple. “There are so many things to do in St. Augustine, so being able to celebrate in such a fun and exciting environment got everyone pumped for the wedding.”

Aside from enjoying various activities that the city had to offer, the bride and groom chose St. Augustine for its proximity to the water and its beautiful venues. “After touring the venue, we knew that St. Augustine was where we would be getting married,” they say.

Planning the wedding at the pair’s dream venue was a breeze with the help of their wedding planner. “She brought our vision to life through providing a wonderful list of vendors that each had their own contribution to our wedding,” says the newlyweds. They say that the biggest benefit of hiring a wedding planner is that they know the area well, have great contacts and are always available to help with stressful situations.

When it came to travel logistics for their guests, the couple provided a number of options on their wedding website. “It seemed that Airbnb was a good fit for many of my guests because they traveled in large groups, so renting a whole house was convenient for them,” says Sarah. While the newlyweds believe they spent around the same amount on a destination wedding as they would have at home, it is pricier for guests as they have to arrange travel and lodging accommodations.

However, by the end of the event, the bride would not have changed anything, and she believes her guests feel the same.

On top of all St. Augustine has to offer, Sarah also created a wall of donuts for her guests to enjoy throughout the celebration. “My husband and I like to snack on quite often!” Sarah says.

In order to have a fantastic wedding, the newlyweds recommend trusting your wedding planner, the vendors and any other help that goes into your big day. “Respect these people’s opinions because they know the area and what works with your location,” the bride says. “With an amazing team and tons of help, I am sure your wedding day can be as delightful and captivating as ours!”
