We could tell you Arvind and Britta’s story in the way we usually do. But, when you come across a couple whose personalities are larger than life, well - you let them take it away! So, without further ado, here is the story of Arvind and Britta and their grand Vermont destination wedding!

How did you meet?
A: "Arvind and Britta met at Dartmouth at the beginning of his final year in Residency. Britta had recently moved to the area and was working as a nurse in Cardiology. Arvind was rotating on Britta’s unit for a month and immediately caught Britta’s eye with his luscious hair and contagious smile. Britta thought, 'he’s a little short but very cute' while Arvind was thinking, 'she’s cute but probably only dates tall guys.' A flirtatious but professional relationship started to blossom.

One day Britta had a very ill patient with persistent chest pain. Arvind received many rapid-fire pages from the pesky nurse Britta. Arvind dropped everything and ran to the rescue. From that day on they had an inside joke about Britta’s paging habits. On Arvind’s last day on her unit, Britta joked about continuing to page him. Britta watched Arvind walk off the unit for what she thought was the last time and she quickly paged him her number. Awkwardly, Arvind had to come back to the unit to grab his stuff and didn’t say a word. However, what seemed like only minutes after he had finally left, Arvind texted Britta asking her out on a date."

Q: Why did you choose to do a destination wedding?
A: "Although Vermont isn't where we live currently, it feels like home to us. Britta grew up less than an hour from what would be our venue. And, we met while we were both working at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Arvind was living in Vermont. We spent much of the beginning of our relationship exploring the state.

We specifically chose The Wilburton Inn because of its quaint atmosphere, the availability of enough accommodations that many of our guests could stay at the venue and the fact that we would be the only wedding at the venue that weekend. We also loved the town of Manchester - a quintessential Vermont country town with local shops and easy access to outdoor activities."

Q: What helped you the most in the planning process?
A: "The wonderful and dedicated planners at The Wilburton were with us every step of the way. When we had to reschedule everything due to COVID they were incredibly flexible and helped us reschedule all our vendors."

Q: Did you include any do-it-yourself projects in your wedding/reception? If so, please describe them.
A: "Britta’s Dad and Arvind built the arbor together. Britta made a mailbox into a 'Love Letters' box for cards."

Q: What were the travel logistics like for your guests? Did you run into any issues and how did you resolve them?
A: "The Wilburton is located near three major airports, so all the guests who lived outside of the North East rented cars to get there. We let our guests know well in advance what travel logistics would be like so that they could start planning well before our wedding date."

Q: How do you think your wedding would have been different had you not held it away from home?
A: "We would have missed out on the picturesque backdrop of the Green Mountain State. We also loved that we were able to share a place that we love with our friends and family who had never been to Vermont. Many of our guests told us how much they loved all that Vermont had to offer and that they were already planning trips back to explore more!"

Q: Overall, do you have any special advice you would like to share with our readers to help prepare them for their day?
A: "Do a photoshoot with your photographer prior to the wedding, and get the videographer! The day was such a whirlwind we had a hard time remembering every little detail. Capturing all the details and emotions of the day with a video was the best decision we made!"
