In a small, charming town with stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains is where Bobby and Troy’s hearts were stolen, creating the ultimate happily ever after in North Carolina’s fall foliage. After meeting through a mutual friend, and living near the mountains, the location became an inspiration for their fall-themed wedding.
The scenery of lavish greens, bright oranges and yellows, and prominent hues of red were unmatchable to any other venue location. The couple immediately fell in love with Old Edwards Inn. Their venue had a quaint charm with rustic, stone, and candlelights overlooking the prestigious mountains.
“Once we both toured Half Mile Farm at Old Edwards Inn, it was immediately clear that all previous options fell short,” the couple says. “We both looked at one another and said let’s write the deposit check.”
While there was no hesitation with the couple’s decision, scheduling conflicts arose due to the pandemic and the peak of the autumn season. Thankfully, Sarah Murray with Verge Events took control of the rescheduling and eased their worries.
“Sarah Murray and her team were without a doubt the best option,” Bobby says. “Her attention to detail impressed us from our initial interactions.”
In addition to the help of their wedding planner, the couple curated a list of accommodations and activities available in the small mountain town to simplify logistics.
“All guests were informed very early on to plan their travel and book their accommodations,” Troy says. “We had a customized wedding application to help guide our guests with lodging information, travel logistics, and accommodations, and sent early reminders throughout the process.”
Aside from rescheduling conflicts, the wedding was worth all the logistical stress. The close proximity of the venue and the guest lodging extended the celebration and created a more intimate wedding experience.
“Everything was within walking distance; people could easily find one another,” the couple says. “Our Friday night pre-wedding event was the wedding party strolling around town to visit with our guests.”
For other couples that are considering an autumn wedding, Bobby and Troy have some advice to combat curveballs that arise during scheduling in North Carolina’s prime time.
“Give control to your wedding planner. They are true professionals and have experience. They want the best for you and your big day. Also, save room in your budget for the unexpected. There will always be unplanned expenses that are just part of the process.”
