Julie and Arjun, a couple rooted in the fast-paced world of San Francisco’s tech industry, envisioned a wedding that would be an escape—a chance to focus solely on each other and the merging of their lives. Mexico City, with its vibrant culture and personal significance to Julie, made for the ideal destination to celebrate.

Perhaps most importantly, Julie and Arjun found that Mexico City could accommodate the desire to fuse both Mexican and Indian cultures into one large celebration, spanning three unforgettable events. 

From the jump, the couple had a few priorities, one being that they hoped to hire all Mexican vendors. Recognizing the crucial role of the wedding planner in organizing all the details of a destination wedding, Julie and Arjun interviewed various planners, finding the ideal fit in Memora Eventos. 

“It all began on Friday night with a lively Mehendi celebration at Jardin Prim. Our guests were adorned with intricate henna designs, setting the stage for an evening filled with captivating music and dance performances,” Julie says.

Saturday afternoon was the heart of the celebration, beginning with a vibrant Baraat procession filled with a blend of both Indian and Latino music. “While traditionally the bride does not join the baraat,” Arjun says. “The Baraat is one of Julie’s favorite parts of Indian weddings, and she could not resist joining the festivities.”

This led the party to the stunning Hindu ceremony location, Hacienda el Pedregal, adorned with cascading purple and pink bougainvilleas. The day culminated in an elegant reception at General Prim, where tables decorated with black candles and Alcatraz flowers created an intimate and romantic atmosphere.

“The blending of my Mexican heritage with Arjun’s Indian roots was beautifully reflected throughout our wedding, from the music to the décor and the flavors of the food,” the bride says. 

While the weekend was filled with joy, the couple still faced a few unexpected challenges. For example, “none of our vendors offered MC services, which is typical of American vendors, especially DJs,” Julie says. “Consequently, we had to rely heavily on our sisters to fulfill the MC duties throughout the weekend. We were deeply grateful for the help of our siblings and their willingness and enthusiasm to help us in this capacity.”
