With Jae having grown up in Thailand, she and Danny have spent a fair bit of time in Phuket, and they “fell in love with the vibrancy of the place.” Hosting a destination wedding there just made sense.
Discovering the right venue turned out to be an experience as seamless as selecting the destination, thanks to the expertise of their wedding planner, Wedding Boutique Phuket.
“We found the venue through our wedding planner – who we found on social media. We saw a YouTube video of one of the weddings that was done by WBP and knew immediately that Villa Aye was where we wanted to get married!” Danny explains.
The couple emphasizes the importance of privacy when selecting a wedding venue. “I would highly recommend focusing on the privacy of your event,” Danny advises, suggesting options like secluded venues or hotels that offer exclusive spaces for weddings.
Since the celebration would be on the small side (about 60 guests), Jae and Danny prioritized making plans to extend the life of the festivities. “We stayed at the resort where all our guests were staying and spent a week or so enjoying time with everyone who stayed in Phuket,” Jae recounts.
Jae and Danny’s wedding day brought a unique blend of their multicultural backgrounds. “Genetically, we cover several different cultures (Korea, Thailand, UK, India), but in reality, this means that we do not adhere to any specific traditions,” Jae says. Instead of sticking to one cultural theme, the couple chose elements they loved from weddings they’d attended before.
“We wrote our own vows and worked closely with our wedding planner to design the theme and decoration,” the couple says. “It was mainly our wedding planner that did all the hard work, but I would hope that our nudges were helpful in creating the vibe.”
On the wedding day, Jae looked stunning in a Dana Harel gown, while Danny dazzled in a suit from Suit Supply. Their floral arrangements, designed by Art of Flower Phuket, added a lush, romantic feel to the ceremony, held on the upscale, modern grounds of Villa Aye. The couple’s stationery, thoughtfully curated by Wedding Boutique Phuket, added a personal touch to their day, and guests indulged in a delicious cake crafted by Passion Joob Joob.
While Jae and Danny admit they didn’t stay hyper-vigilant while managing expenses, they do recommend reducing the guest list, as it is “the best way to cut costs.” Their advice for communicating with vendors, navigating the details, and curating the ideal design for your wedding day: “Get a really good wedding planner and you won’t have to worry about a thing!”
