When Lauren Fair and Rachael Ellen got together to conceptualize this styled shoot, they set their hearts on an “Old World Meets Europe” theme. Lauren Fair is a destination film photographer and photographs weddings in Europe frequently, so her main goal of this editorial was to bring a little bit of Europe to the United States.
Held at the DC Country Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, the team set up in and around an open building with cream walls, old tiled floors, and a desert filled with cacti in the back. Basically, it was the Arizona version of Europe!
The venue itself was located on a golf course and had lots of open area behind it which created the illusion that we weren’t in Arizona, but across the ocean in a magical European villa deep in the country. The florals were dreamy and filled with pinks, oranges, and cream colors. These all hinted towards a more sophisticated and modern style, without taking away from the romantic feel. The colors also complimented the natural surrounding. The soft green cacti and soft sand colors were the perfect addition to the warm colors.
Adding to the magic of the shoot, our models, Albert and Liliya, are a beautiful real couple who moved here from overseas (Bulgaria) a while back.

overed with pieces of jewels and soft tulle, the bridal gown designed by BHLDN looked like it belonged in a fairytale. Liliya’s hair was pulled back to reveal her stunning face and soften the look even more, while Albert’s white tux was the perfect finishing touch.Truly, all of the details – the shoes, jewelry, florals, and paper goods – added a touch of delicacy, giving the feeling as if you’re in another world.
If you are wanting a European wedding style but don’t want to actually take it overseas, this is the perfect shoot to inspire your decision!
