Bridgerton season 2 is upon us! If you were enchanted by the first season with all of its elaborate parties and juicy romance, and wish to incorporate some of that into your destination wedding, you’ve come to the right place. We chatted with one of Ireland’s best wedding planners, Tara Fay, who dreamt up a stunning Bridgerton-inspired styled shoot you may recognize from last year. Our goal: to get all of her insight and advice on how to throw a Bridgerton-esque wedding celebration! Read it all below:

Let’s take some fashion inspo for weddings from the new season. The flowered dresses are perfect for your bridal party for a summer wedding. The way that all the characters in Bridgerton love an excuse to dress up and love to party is just perfect for a wedding!

I often think that not only does life imitate art and vice versa. Weddings and fashion often inspire each other as do television and movies. The perfect example of this is the fact that Malone Souliers has released a Bridgerton-inspired shoe collection, just in time for the new season.

Have a look at the Bridgerton tables, they just ooze layering. So place pattern upon pattern, it really is “go big or go home!” The Regency period was known for its detail and structure. Be detailed and thoughtful with your table design.  Don’t just add elements for the sake of it. Pick them based on your style and color palette.

When we look at the linens on the tables, they are beautifully crisp and mainly white with accents in the form of the crockery and the napkins. Of course, I am going to suggest Irish linen as the best option to use, because after all, it is the best!

Regency tables were mainly formal dining tables in mahogany wood and worked on a pedestal system. This means the size for a long dining table could increase by adding extra pieces into the tables to allow for more guests. They really perfected the long dining table style. Round tables that were traditionally set were for 4-12 guests, in even numbers only.

For lighting, this period perfected the concept of soft and subtle lighting. Everyone looks better by candlelight and because the lighting was mainly candlelight, lots and lots of candles add to the ambiance for a Bridgerton-inspired party.

I do love a good fainting sofa and it’s such a lovely way to lounge about getting dressed on the morning of your wedding. If you have the option of a chaise on the morning of your wedding, take full advantage of it and use a large feathered fan for a touch of decadence.

If you cannot replicate your own maze or hanging florals from a ceiling, an easy fix is to create a hanging floral over one table, usually the top table. This creates a focal point for the rest of the tables and you can take inspiration for the rest of your table décor from this one central piece.

To help with color schemes, just look at any episode of Bridgerton. It is literally a cornucopia of colors! In fact, the more the better and add in texture as well. If you look at the fashion in the episodes, it is very tactile fabrics and embellished detail. So incorporate this into your overall wedding look book. In fact, when you are creating your wedding look, it is often overwhelming. Save as many images as you like, and they don’t always have to be from a wedding (think fashion shows, a garden, a restaurant, or simply a store window). Organize them in one centralized way, and you will actually see a pattern emerge. Pick your favorites and must-haves, and edit them down. You will begin to create your own ideal wedding style.

However, if you have too many ideas and visuals in mind, it’s probably not possible to incorporate them all on the wedding day. You can always break common themes into subgroups and simply transfer them to another event on your wedding weekend. You could even base each event on a different episode or character from the show.

When designing your stationery set and invitations, bring elements of Bridgerton into this. If you want to be true to the era, you would of course have used beautiful penmanship, a real wax seal and some floral design. Expand on this a little and create your monogram with a floral border and have your own wax seal made for your stationery and invitations.  Perhaps even look at a custom stamp for postage.

If you’re planning a destination wedding in Ireland, three perfectly Bridgerton-inspired venues with gorgeous grounds and fine architectural details for a romantic wedding are Ballyfin Demesne (circa 1820); Gloster House (circa 1700); and Glin Castle (circa 1780). Photo by Story of Eve
