Captivating Portugal Wedding Editorial

This editorial was shot in the lush green hills of Sintra, Portugal-- a charming town about 25 minutes outside of Lisbon, characterized by its forests lined with old-world castles and villas. The ceremony and recepetion were held at Penha Longa Resort, a property that was orginally used by Portugese royalty as a retreat destination. The outdoor ceremony was held in the Nuncio Garden, which dates back to the 16th century.

The intimate outdoor ceremony was lined with bright yellow florals to contrast with the stone surroundings and lush green hills that surround the property. The bride wore a stunning gown by NYC dress designer Naeem Khan with the groom outfitted in Bucco Couture. The reception was held in the  Salão Nobre, the great hall located within the 16th century monastery. Lined with ornate table linens, and details that paid homage to the famous azulejos tiles found throughout Portugal, this reception space provided an entirely new meaning to the "something borrowed something blue".

In addition, Amanda, the planner from AMV Weddings, included this snippet about the editorial:

"The monastery at Penha Longa which dates back to the 14th century, features a classical Portuguese style architecture, offering the most romantic setting for a destination wedding. When designing this shoot, the Salao Nobre space inspired us with its beautifully adorned ceilings in a soft yellow and white palette. The elongated tablescape filled this space, adorned with florals designed by Siloh Floristry in shades of creamy yellow and subtle pops of white. To tie in the stunning outdoor grounds, the monastery ruins in the heart of the tropical forest served as our ceremony space, where lush florals surrounded the ruins pond, creating the most alluring setting for our couple's nuptials!

After the ceremony, our real couple Dani & Cynthia enjoyed a peaceful moment in the open air courtyard of the monastery where we set up a lounge amidst the colorful blue frescoed walls of the space. Our bride Cynthia wore a gown by Naeem Khan, which featured a more relaxed lace embellished look to fit the calming understated elegance of the venue."
