A Golden Palm Beach Wedding

Perhaps the number-one piece of advice we give brides is to slow down and enjoy their wedding day and to not sweat the small stuff. Thankfully, North Carolina couple Jenny and Alex kept their cool after Mother Nature wasn’t willing to cooperate come W-day. What was supposed to be a beautiful, outdoor ceremony at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida was hastily moved indoors due to rain.
Guests rolled with the punches and were handed glasses of Champagne as they entered a beautiful ballroom where Jenny and Alex would say “I do.” The ceremony was intimate with just 35 guests and was made all the more special because the bride’s sister-in-law officiated the union.
Jenny and Alex chose The Breakers as their venue because of “the beauty, reputation and impeccable service.” Thankfully, the couple’s assumptions were proven correct with the last minute change of ceremony plans and impeccable cocktail hour and reception.
The couple’s reception was just as breathtaking as the room in which it was held: The Breakers’ Gold Room. This was no easy feat and only accomplished with towering, dramatic centerpieces, vivid blooms, lush linens and – of course – a gold cake. Guests were treated to a three-course dinner, dancing and some pretty fabulous desserts including milk “shots” and warm chocolate chip cookies, cheesecake lollipops, chocolate-dipped key lime pie and crème brulee.
Despite the rain, this bride had a tough time deciding what she didn’t love about her wedding. “My favorite moment was when Alex and I first saw each other for the ‘first look’ photos before the wedding ceremony,” recalls Jenny. “We had so much fun taking photos before the rain arrived. I also loved the moment when Alex and I were whisked away from the cocktail hour to see the decorated [reception] room for the first time. It was stunning!”
