Essentials for the Southern BrideWords by Lauren Ertl
When it comes to celebrating impending nuptials, no one quite does it like a southern bride! Take it from me, a Texas-born girl who chose to wed in Austin. (Peep my venue for some quintessential southern vibes.) Whether you are a destination bride but you hail from the south and want to bring some of that energy to your wedding away or you simply love the cowgirl look, we are sharing a few items perfect for a southern bride.

What would a southern bride be without her cowgirl boots? To help ease your search for the perfect pairing, we suggest starting your search with Boot Barn. They carry a multitude of styles, including several in bridal white to match that gorgeous dress of yours!
The Cowgirl Hat
Want to feel like a southern princess for real? Check out model-turned hat-reprenuer Kai Lassen’s casual-chic custom hats with an edge. She has designed hats for brides, maids of honor, and bridesmaids. “I recently designed a hat for a bride who had a destination wedding in Montana,” Kai tells us. “I made her a white bridal hat with a rustic, farm vibe. She wanted to be able to wear it again, so I made her a special clip to put on her hat that resembled her bouquet to wear on her wedding day. After the wedding, she could remove the clip so she could wear her hat any time. Whenever she puts it on her head, she’ll be reminded she wore it during her wedding!” Kai also offers hat-making parties for a bridal crew out of her showroom in Jupiter, Florida. One of the great things about being a bride is shouting from the rooftops! Okay, maybe not literally. But, why not have fun by letting everyone know you’re in full-on “bride” mode? This is where we’d suggest turning to TeePublic. Similar to platforms like Society6 and Etsy — every purchase supports an independent artist, and all products are made with quality materials and produced sustainably. The site offers an overflow of wedding-focused prints, including those of the southern variety. Imagine the bachelorette party weekend with goodies like stickers for everyone to add on their Yetti tumblers, t-shirts and tank tops for the bride and her crew to rep, and themed tapestries to help decorate the bach house. Cozy Romper for Lounging
For a comfy outfit to get ready in on the Big Day (or even for lounging on your honeymoon), the Sweetheart Romper by Smash+Tess is a MUST-have! Made from an oh-so-soft bamboo cotton blend, the romper gives you a fun look with the cutest, rather southern ruffle straps. If you want to buy one for yourself in bride white but also want to gift them to your bridesmaids in another color, you can opt for Smash+Tess’s bridal party bundle and save 20 percent!
Sexy, Sculpting Swimsuit
Last, but certainly, not least is the world’s greatest swimsuit. Yep, I said it! Shapewear meets swimwear with TA3’s sculpting, waist-defining swim styles. Our favorite, the Plungey suit, is perfect for real southern women who want to feel confident as a bride-to-be when they’re chilling poolside with their gals or laying out with their Mr. on the honeymoon. But that’s not all this revolutionary one piece is good for. You can actually wear it as a bodysuit as well! (Is anyone else thinking that pairing the Plungey suit with a flowy skirt and some white cowgirl boots could be the perfect fit for rehearsal dinner?) Click here to peruse TA3's many flattering styles and find your favorite!
