Make History in a Civil War-era Barn at White Barn Inn, Kennebunkport, Maine
The heart of this sumptuous resort, nestled along the sandy coast of The Pine Tree State, is the beautiful 1860s barn restaurant where you and yours can celebrate your union. The romantic wood-clad space has a central picture window filled with greenery and white-cloth-topped tables where you and your wedding party can savor New England specialties, including plenty of sweet Maine lobster. Smaller parties can gather in the adjacent Little Barn restaurant, a warm, rustic room with landscape murals.
The Auberge Resorts Collection property has 27 rooms, and a private houseboat docked on the nearby Kennebunk River (perfect for newlyweds!) as well as a beautiful outdoor pool and spa.
Fun fact: The Civil War-era farmhouse is perfect for buy-outs.

Begin the Next Chapter of Your Life Together at George Peabody Library, Baltimore, Maryland
Known as Baltimore’s “Cathedral of Books,” this soaring space at Johns Hopkins University is a storied spot to tie the knot. The 1878 Reading Room has six tiers of ornamental cast-iron balconies holding over 300,000 volumes and a sparkling glass ceiling that floods the room with light. The adjoining Exhibit Gallery is a perfect place for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, while the Reading Room can transform into a dining area and dance floor with a capacity of 170.
Fun fact: Special volumes in the library include first editions by Edgar Allen Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorn and Herman Melville.

Form An Eternal Bond at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Massachusetts
Thousands of visitors flock to this 175-acre cemetery annually to admire its floral-filled green space, sculptures and arboretum. Many couples also come to marry.
You and yours can exchange vows in the 1840s, granite Gothic Revival Bigelow Chapel or red sandstone Story Chapel. Alternatively, you can hold the ceremony on Bigelow Chapel’s lawn. Due to size constraints, receptions must be held elsewhere.
Fun fact: Mount Auburn Cemetery houses over 15,000 trees, shrubs, and plants and is considered one of the state’s top birding destinations.

Create A Fairytale Future Together at Castle Hill On The Crane Estate, Ipswich, Massachusetts
With spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean, the 2,100-acre Crane Estate is a magical place for a storybook wedding from spring through fall. On the estate sits a 59-room Stuart-style mansion, known as the Great House, overlooking a half-mile rolling lawn called the Grand Allée, flanked with European-style sculptures. Say, “I do” on the vast lawn or in the Italian Garden among colorful blooms, stone columns and water features. Enjoy cocktails on the Front Terrace and first floor of the mansion, followed by a tented dinner on the estate’s grounds under the stars.
Fun fact: This National Historic Landmark has been the location for at least ten feature films, including “The Tender Bar” with George Clooney.

Couples seeking a memorable way to elope can exchange vows among the boughs in a luxury treehouse at this all-inclusive woodland resort. The property has eight aerial abodes from which to choose, each suspended 20 feet above the ground with private decks, soaking tubs, king beds and starlight views. After the intimate ceremony, pop some bubbly and savor fresh, seasonal Vermont fare. Then, extend your stay for a honeymoon and enjoy the property’s spa with a salt-water onsen, lake (perfect for canoeing), hiking trails (arrange for a picnic), lounging areas filled with games, and casual and fine-dining restaurants.
