Sanctuary Cap Cana is a luxury all-inclusive, adults-only resort in the Dominican Republic, and it just so happens to be the first of its kind for the Marriott Luxury Collection. This pristine property is located in the exclusive Cap Cana community, which boasts pristine beaches, world-class golf courses, equestrian stables, a marina and a scape park full of natural wonders. The resort underwent a grand reopening after being closed due to a hurricane, and I was fortunate enough to be one of the first guests to experience its renewed splendor.

From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was struck by the beauty of Sanctuary Cap Cana’s aesthetic. The décor is elegant and sophisticated, with plush furnishings and warm lighting that create a sense of comfort and relaxation. The lobby also offers a breathtaking view of the ocean, which sets the tone for the rest of the resort.

My room was equally impressive. I got the special treatment and stayed right on the beach in one of the property’s oceanfront villas. Besides having a private deck over the sea, my one-bedroom Monarch Villa boasted a king-size bed, living and dining room, jetted bathtub and much more! The Villa Collection section also offers VIP services like a personal butler, a bottle of champagne upon arrival, and the list goes on… There is a wide range of accommodations with various pricing and offerings to suit your preferences and budget – which is ideal if you plan to travel with a large group.

Speaking of large groups, one of the unique features of Sanctuary Cap Cana is its ability to host weddings and other special events. There are several venues perfect for weddings, from a private tropical island ideal for intimate nuptials to The Castle Ocean Lounge for couples who wish to feel like royalty come Wedding Day. On-site experienced and dedicated wedding planners work closely with each couple to create a wedding that reflects their individual style and preferences. Whatever your dream wedding may entail, Sanctuary Cap Cana’s range of wedding packages suits different budgets and preferences.

The resort also offers a range of dining options, from casual beachside eateries to fine-dining restaurants. My favorite was Capriccio, which serves specialty Northern Italian items and classics in an elegant, expertly decorated space. The property also has several bars and lounges where guests can enjoy cocktails and entertainment throughout the day and night, including its very own disco!

One of the highlights of my stay was stepping into full relaxation at the Sanctuary Spa. From the moment you enter “the castle” building which houses the spa, more suite accommodations, a secluded bar and pool, and the state-of-the-art fitness center – expect to be in a perpetual state of awe. On your stroll to your spa treatment, make sure to stop by the waterfall room where a giant water feature mimics the sound of the ocean, and take a mindful moment.

Upon entering the expansive spa, take in the elegant, natural decor and subtle lighting creating a peaceful ambiance. The treatment menu features a variety of massages, facials, body wraps, and other beauty services ideal for getting ready on the big day, all performed by highly skilled therapists using premium products. Whether you opt for a deep tissue massage, a hydrating facial, or a full-body scrub, you are sure to leave feeling refreshed, revitalized, and utterly pampered. Overall, the spa at Sanctuary Cap Cana is a must-visit for anyone seeking an indulgent and unforgettable wellness experience.
