Little did Brooke Eubanks know that meeting friends on a ski slope would win her the heart of her true love. In 1997, Brooke and Chris met on Larkspur trail in Beaver Creek, Colo. and 9 years later he proposed on the very same mo
untain. “It was wonderfully romantic! Chris took me out in a horse drawn sleigh with a full moon and snow falling.” Brooke says. Initially they were going to have a traditional wedding on Catalina Island, but Brooke tells us “We didn’t want a wedding like everyone else.”
Because they met and became engaged in Beaver Creek, it was far too perfect to pass on having the most important day of their lives be shared at the same spot. “Both our families love to ski and it just seemed natural.” So, plans changed from Catalina Island to the snowy mountains of Beaver Creek. “We figured because much of our family had to travel, we wanted to make sure we gave them more than just a ceremony and dinner. We wanted them to enjoy the destination and a fun weekend getaway.”
One thing they didn’t count on was the weather. The biggest snowstorm in history hit Denver making it next to impossible for guests to get there. Even their photographer – Grant Oakes with a 29-year streak of never missing a wedding had to battle through the horrid blizzard to get to Beaver Creek. Luckily, everyone made it there in one piece.
With 30 of their closest friends and family, Brooke and Chris skied to their nuptials, said their “I do’s” and allowed guests the afternoon to get in some time on the slopes.
Later that evening, a reception commenced at Rock Modern Grill with candlelight, live music and dancing. Brooke tell us “Because there was so much excitement, so much love, and so many people made such an effort to be there, both Chris and I were on cloud nine and wouldn’t have changed a thing.”
