This Property in Punta de Mita, Mexico Offers it All
It’s no secret that Mexico is one of our favorite locales for destination weddings. What’s not to love? Gorgeous backdrops, welcoming culture, delicious cuisine and some of the most talented vendors in the world can be found all over this stunning country.
In the past several years, new properties have been popping up all over and we love getting to experience them firsthand to make sure they pass the test for couples thinking of doing a wedding away. I had the distinct pleasure of traveling to a newer property located about 40 kilometers northwest of Puerto Vallarta called Conrad Punta de Mita.
What made this experience unlike many other traditional press invitations we receive is that they gave our group an upfront experience of what any kind of wedding could be like on their property. From a beachfront rehearsal dinner (with fireworks!) and daytime Jewish ceremony to a poolside gay wedding (officiated by a drag queen) and a stunning Indian wedding (complete with a lively baraat), there was no question this property had any and every culture, need and tradition covered.
The resort itself is worthy of celebration. With oceanfront casitas boasting personal plunge pools, pocket doors exposing crashing waves 100 yards from your room and outdoor showers that overlook gardens, the accommodations leave little to be desired. Their main hotel (centered on the property) offers more traditional rooms but with panoramic ocean views that will take your breath away. The combination of casitas, traditional hotel rooms and suites gives wedding couples the opportunity to make a home away from home, but allow their guests privacy so they can enjoy their own vacation.
One of my favorite amenities to check out when doing the hard work of investigating these properties is the spa. Is it worthy of a group visit from the wedding party? Is there a salon on-site for a pedicure and blowout or a dedicated pool secluded from screaming children and spring breaker’s revelry? Are the treatment rooms special enough to remark on? The answers to all of these questions: yes. The Conrad Spa is truly remarkable. The outdoor treatment rooms are akin to bird’s nests rather than the traditional “expected” rooms stacked down a dim hallway. There are countless places to rest and recover from the fun of tequila tastings and water sports. The common areas are plentiful, so even if the spa is busy, you’d never know it.
As far as the property and venues to host all the events required for a destination wedding, Conrad Punta de Mita has spaces in spades. From small private rooms (like the Mezcal Tasting Studio in Árbol) and the oceanfront expanses on the sand or secluded lush lawns, couples can celebrate under the stars or inside a plush ballroom for every event.
The culinary team can accommodate just about any couple regardless of culture, food preference or allergy. Guests and your betrothed will be surprised and delighted by the presentation and the flavors bursting from every course and cocktail.
After visiting Conrad Punta de Mita and seeing not just the gorgeous sprawling property, but the level of care and sophistication brought to everything they do, any couple would have their destination wedding dreams realized.
