Some destinations have an inherently romantic feel about them and Old San Juan, Puerto Rico is one of those places. Two photographers were so inspired, in fact, that they put together a photo shoot to capture that romantic magic. “We were inspired by the colors and romance of the colonial city of Old San Juan on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico,” says photographer Vanessa Velez. All those involved worked toward “capturing the rhythmic passion of the city” and did so in many ways like the hand written stationery and hand painted macarons.
For a photo shoot in the colonial section of San Juan, the team needed to find a historic venue that celebrated the surroundings. The Hotel El Convento was the perfect fit. A former convent, the Hotel El Convento was a truly one-of-a-kind setting for this shoot. The ceremony spot was set against an enormous antique fresco that conveniently displayed the chosen color palette. Nothing says historic romance like deep reds and tones of gold – a color scheme the team captured perfectly.
Puerto Rico is a huge draw for destination wedding couples and, ironically, the vendor team who put together this beautiful, inspirational shoot represents the wanderlust spirit the island is known for. With vendors coming from as far away as Canada, there’s no doubt that the destination played a major role in the shoot’s inspiration. Hopefully you will find some inspirational details from the shoot to incorporate into your own destination wedding!
