Here at Destination I Do, we’ve been lucky enough to travel the globe and eat at some pretty fabulous restaurants. When it comes to recommending a place to satiate your traveling hungers in our Phoenix-area stomping ground, look no further than the Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North. We’ve sampled all the property has to offer in terms of eateries, and their in-house bar & lounge just recently launched an entirely new concept and menu. Onyx Bar & Lounge is meant to complement the Four Seasons Scottsdale’s signature restaurant, Talavera.

The brain child of Executive Chef Mel Mecinas, the new menu is brassiere-inspired and full of tempting and tasty options including beef tartare & toast, escargot, smoked salmon flatbread and, my personal favorite, an expansive cheese & charcuterie selection. Whether you’re on property and looking for a quick bite to eat or taking advantage of the patio’s breathtaking sunset views, you can order as little or as much as you like in an inviting atmosphere. Best of all, Chef Mecinas prides himself on utilizing local ingredients as much as possible like locally-sourced beef and Queen Creek olives – allowing you to get a true taste of the area.

To accompany your entrees or appetizers, the Onyx Bar & Lounge has also introduced a new drink menu. In addition to the classic mixed drinks and margaritas, you can delight in local beers and wines by the glass. The Iconoclast Cabernet Sauvignon is exclusive to the Four Seasons and is a must-try for red wine aficionados. Happy Hour is available every day from 4-6 p.m. with daily drink specials and discounted prices.

Perhaps best of all, the Onyx Bar & Lounge has also launched a new dessert menu. The can’t-miss option is the “Trio of Chocolate” tasting. This indulgent treat rotates weekly and features three types of chocolate. First, taste the high quality chocolate in its pure form and then in its inspired truffle created with complementing flavors like hibiscus, chile de árbol or cinnamon. According to Pastry Chef Lance Whipple, you can tell the quality of chocolates by the amount of time their flavor lingers on your palate. So, lucky you, you’ll make the stunning drive back to your hotel-of-choice, or tucked into your bed at the Four Seasons with the lingering flavors of rich cocoa.
