When booking your honeymoon, there are a few must-have factors to consider: is it a bucket-list destination, does it involve a romantic itinerary, is there an adventurous factor? Thankfully, there’s a convenient way to get all of these honeymoon must-haves. Windstar Cruises is a luxury cruise line that specializes in intimate, private yacht cruising. I was lucky enough to experience a Windstar cruise to Tahiti and the service was incredible – definitely worthy of a honeymoon. Windstar recently launched a brand new sailing to some under-the-radar Greek Isles. It doesn’t get much more romantic than Greece and Windstar combines the historic big-hitters with lesser-known, less crowded destinations.
There is one more sailing of the “Treasures of the Greek Isles” itinerary in early September and more to follow in 2017. You will sail aboard the 212-passenger “Star Pride” yacht, which is adult-only, making it ideal for honeymooners. Windstar prides itself on being the only truly small ship that sails to iconic Mykonos and Santorini. Your sail begins and ends in Athens and will explore the smaller, hidden ports of Nafplio, Monemvasia and Patmos along the Aegean Sea. Windstar also expanded its shore excursions for the “Treasures of the Greek Isles” itinerary to include visits to nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
In addition to being immersed in the culture of these beautiful, ancient ports, you will also experience a signature Windstar “private event.” On Ephesus, you will enjoy a complimentary, once-in-a-lifetime private candlit dinner at Celsus Library. The five-course, white-glove-service dinner will be held in the courtyard in front of the library with the illuminated façade as your backdrop and accompanied by a trio from the Aegean Chamber Orchestra. The busiest times in the Greek Islands are July-September, peaking in August, so Windstar does its best to time its itineraries to beat the crowds, while still taking advantage of the islands’ warm weather and beaches. For more information on this seven-day Greek itinerary or to see the dozens of other destinations Windstar services, visit windstarcruises.com. Fares for the “Treasures of the Greek Isles” itinerary begin at $2,559 USD per person.
