Halfway between Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay area lies a valley rich with history, art, and culture. San Luis Obispo brings forth a perfect blend of that California Central Coast laid-back feel and all the richness of culture and sophistication. Among its cafés and historic buildings lies a refuge of luxury and relaxation. Hotel San Luis Obispo (Hotel SLO) is an unmatched vibe. Tucked away in the heart of Downtown San Luis Obispo, this contemporary resort perfectly complements its surroundings. While it’s modern look embodies a contemporary vibe, the added details that tell the story of the area are accented throughout.

Hotel San Luis Obispo exterior and interior

Upon stepping on the property, the living wall dripping with succulents was inspired by moon gate passages in Chinese culture. The hotel is situated in the Chinatown portion of the city and calls back to the meaningful contributions of the Chinese community with many details in the décor and architecture. With 78 luxurious rooms, 2 onsite restaurants, a world-class spa and a rooftop bar, it’s no wonder it has become a premier location for wedding parties. Pop open a bottle of champagne to welcome your guests at the rooftop bar High Bar and take in the vistas overlooking downtown and the rolling hills and mountains in the distance. Indulge in some light bites and craft beer and perhaps even play a round on the full-sized Bocce court.

Hotel SLO restaurants and details

For dinner, mere steps from the entrance is Ox and Anchor, a modern steakhouse. Having been awarded a Michelin Plate, Ox and Anchor delights in fresh and locally sourced ingredients with menus curated by chef Ryan Fancher.

Hotel SLO artful rooms

On each floor of the hotel is commissioned artwork from well-known artists. This eco-friendly hotel offers refill stations on every floor with a choice of sparkling or chilled water. As you enter your room, you are greeted with a vibe that exudes a mix of a coastal feel and elegance. For maximum blissful opulence, there are 6 suites and 10 Terrace rooms to suit your pre or post-wedding accommodations.

Santa Margarita vineyard with table set up

In nearby Santa Margarita sits a winery that invites people to celebrate in the fresh open air and rolling hills. Oyster Ridge, aptly named for the discovery of fossilized oysters in its soil, is not only a working vineyard but also the perfect venue for that scenic celebration to remember for years to come.  Accommodating from the most intimate groups to large capacity, Oyster Ridge will have you sipping and dancing the night away.

the hotel's restaurant, Piadina

Whether it’s the big day or the day after, take in some brunch at the onsite restaurant, Piadina. Influenced by Italian cuisine, Piadina features a menu that includes pasta, wood-fired pizzas and various types of meat. With a more casual vibe with seating on the garden patio or indoors, you can raise your glass with a specially crafted cocktail.

hotel pool, spa waiting area and spa treatment room

Unwinding after the wedding? Treat yourself to a massage, facial, body scrub, and many more services at Sol Spa. This onsite holistic wellness center also has a salt sauna, a pool, a jacuzzi, and a meditation room to reinvigorate your body and soul.

Steps away from the hotel is the old Spanish mission. Founded in 1772 by Junipero Serra, the mission still stands today and welcomes guests with the peal of its bells every hour. A currently active church and museum, you may take a tour of this iconic place.

Throughout town, you have quick and easy access to shops, breweries and art installations. From charming and quirky shops to big box stores, everything you may need is just a stone’s throw from the hotel. Nearby is the Palm Theatre featuring vintage films. The Palm is an eco-friendly theatre and the first ever to be entirely solar-powered. Partnering with Hotel SLO, savor the dishes you saw on screen as they are prepared for you in conjunction with your experience. A pedestrian-friendly town, some of the pathways are still lined with its historic cobblestone.
