Palm Springs is no doubt an idyllic destination for weddings. From the endless sunshine, perfect winter weather, stunning desert landscape and drivable proximity to many southwest cities, this California locale is an iconic hotspot for good reason.

Azure Sky Hotel, a newly renovated adult-only micro-resort in the center of Palm Springs, was originally built in 1959 and has been reimagined many times over. Most recently, local designer Anne LEsperance and Cioffi Architect brought this quaint gem back to life with a nod to its mid-century modern roots but with a serene contemporary feel.

The private event lawn or “meadow,” complete with a firepit and uninterrupted views of San Jacinto mountains, is an ideal place for guests to gather for a rehearsal dinner or intimate wedding celebration.

With only 14 guest rooms, a wedding take-over is a must. Enjoy your own private home away from home for the weekend or a week. It’s also pet-friendly, serves continental breakfast daily and several suites have in-room amenities such as kitchenettes and outdoor hammocks to lounge the day away in.

In order to fully unwind, all rooms are TV and telephone free, however, the property is outfitted with wi-fi so you don’t feel totally cut off from the world. Although after my visit, it’s best if you do. I highly recommend totally immersing yourself in the calm, relaxing environment of this charming micro-hotel.

The sparkling azure pool is the crown jewel of the property. Even at full capacity, there’s more than enough room to spread out and enjoy a cocktail as you take in the blue skies and swaying palm trees.

The other highlight of the property is the design of the rooms and common areas. Minimal yet modern, vintage yet current – the feel is perfectly “Palm Springs” in all the best ways. From peekaboo screens of the past mixed with oversized living spaces of today, you’ll revel in how every corner of this special place is worthy of a photo or a glance.

The proximity to nightlife and daytime activities such as hiking, golf, spa or shopping are mere minutes away. We were able to walk to several places or hop on their complimentary bikes for a little extra convenience.

When you consider a road trip wedding destination, put Palm Springs at the top of your list and when you’re thinking of where to stay (for your “I do’s” or “I did’s”) Azure Sky is a perfect place to start your story.
