A Lovely Maine Destination Wedding

Along with their desire to eat lots of good seafood, newlyweds Catherine and Tim chose a Maine destination wedding for the special memories they’ve made there over the years.

“We both spent many of our childhood summers in Maine,” says the couple.
With a mutual love for travel and adventure, the pair knew they wanted to hold their wedding away from home, and their guests were equally as enthusiastic about this decision.
“Everyone was excited for an excuse to travel,” says Catherine and Tim. “We didn’t have any negative reactions from our family and friends.”
Luckily, the trip was not far for many of them, as most of their guests from the East Coast were within driving distance of the wedding.
Though they admit it was challenging for them to trust the internet for reliable reviews, the newlyweds used different websites for information and inspiration to help them plan.
Additionally, when communicating with vendors, the couple says the time difference sometimes made addressing quick questions difficult.
“We just had to think ahead and not leave things to the last minute,” says Catherine and Tim.
The pair also recommends working on things in baby steps, in order to avoid becoming overwhelmed with all that needs to be done.
On top of communication, the couple focused on DIYs for their big day, including the candle centerpieces (using Ikea and Dollar Tree) and the bridesmaids’ bouquets (with flowers from Bouqs.com and Trader Joe’s). They also made the seating list and assembled the gift boxes.
Despite the various aspects that need attention leading up to the wedding, Catherine and Tim agree that your happiness is ultimately the most important factor.
“Remember that in the end, it is about celebrating and acknowledging the love between you and your partner,” they say. “Everything else is secondary in importance.”
