Destination weddings are increasingly popular, and 2024 couples are embracing them more than ever! Sometimes, you don’t have to go across the globe to achieve your dream destination wedding aesthetic. These nine venues are all in the US but give you that dreamy, romantic Italian wedding vibe that’s probably all over your Pinterest right now!

1. VILLA TERRACE

First up from the great state of Wisconsin is Villa Terrace. This villa was commissioned by Lloyd and Agnes Smith, inspired by a 16th villa they saw during their honeymoon in Northern Italy. Recently, a team of talented wedding vendors got together to create a styled elopement shoot that highlighted the property’s resemblance to a venue one may find in Tuscany. The photographer who captured it all, Sandra Armenteros, explains how the photo shoot came together and expands on the venue below…

“Sitting atop a hill on the Milwaukee shore, the house has gorgeous views of Lake Michigan which can be enjoyed from the ample terraces and gorgeous formal garden. The terracotta roof, the multiple fountains and statues, and the overall design of the garden truly made the space feel like we were near the Mediterranean. Although the villa hosts weddings and other large events frequently, we wanted to reimagine the space and use it for a small elopement for just our couple and their friend, who happens to be the owner and lead planner at Arlotta Events, and who also acted as officiant. The bride’s preparations took place in what was once the bedroom of the Smith’s eldest daughter. We loved the intricate floral pattern on the walls which was a replica of the original wallpaper, and which coordinated so well with the blues on our groom’s suit. The ceremony took place on the steps of the terrace, in a shaded area facing the lake. Both the bride and groom wore suits from SuitShop and exchanged rings from Ethan Lord. After the ceremony ended, our bride changed into a custom Carmen Seminario party dress with floral embroidery and dramatic bow sleeves. The couple then shared a delicious millefoglie cake before heading off to their European honeymoon.”
