Say I do this wedding season with the best in trending hairstyles. Wedding tresses, just like other wedding dresses, change from year to year. We spoke with celebrity hairstylist,
Nadia Vassell, who offered her insights into what’s trending right now and how to pick the perfect hairstyle for your face and dress style.

Q: What bridal hair trends have you seen taking off in recent times?
A: This past year, many brides have had to delay their special day for when things return to normal. Some brides have opted for zoom nuptials, where they’ve probably created their wedding hair day masterpiece themselves.  In the US, we are seeing some type of normalcy into how we gather at weddings. I think the trend is towards no fuss, lived-in hair. So the effortlessly tousled beach wave looks like they did it themselves, but really a professional hairstylist created it for them. I think we will see some bobs, lobs, maybe some styles with fringes, and naturally curly textured hairstyles

Q: For brides who would like to wear their hair down on their special day, what 5 hairdos do you suggest they consider?
A: When it comes to wearing your hair down on your wedding day, there are so many options and some things that the bride needs to factor in.

Considerations: Before wearing your hair down, consider your hair type, the weather conditions on the day of, and humidity in the air. This will help you determine if your wedding hairstyle will last from the ceremony to the reception.

The 5 hairstyles for wearing your hair down are:

Naturally Curly Hairstyles

Add some hair accessories to jazz your style up and add a bit of glamour.

Effortless Tousled Beachy Waves

The mid-shaft has a bit of bend to it and towards the ends it is much straighter. This hairstyle can be achieved on any hair length, from bobs, lobs, and longer hair length. Not only is this hair fun, but super sexy and perfect for any bride on wedding day. It’s for the bride who doesn’t want the fuss on their big day, so even if the hair gets a little messy, it’s okay. It’s chic, fun and effortless.

Glamorous Old Hollywood Wave

I love when it’s parted on the side. The lower side is pulled back showing the ear and add some hair jewels for the wow factor. I also love when the top has some volume.

Add a Loose Braid to Your Down Style

The simplicity of this hairstyle can bring joy to any bride on their wedding day because it’s very easy to achieve and quite effortless.

Sleek Straight Hairstyle

Add some floral headpieces for the wow factor.

Q: For brides who want to strut an updo on their wedding day, what 5 hairdos do you suggest they consider?
A: The options are unlimited when we talk about updos for the bride on her wedding day.

My 5 updos to consider for that special day are:

Faux Hawk Hairstyle

This does well with natural curls.

Low Updo Bun

Deliberately pull out tendrils from the bun and some face-framing hanging tendrils.

Jumbo Braid Undone

Loosely tuck and pin to add volume.

Goddess Braid Into a Crown

Deliberately leave out a few tendrils to give a boho-chic look.

Classic Bridal Bun

This style is timeless, elegant and sophisticated.

Q:
How should the bride’s hair type influence how they choose to style their hair on w-day?
A: The bride’s hair type is a factor and she should absolutely consider that when speaking with her wedding hairstylist. You want to make sure that your hair type can withstand the chosen hairstyle and the elements of the environment like hudmidity and heat.

Q: How should brides take care of their luscious locks in the months leading up to the wedding?
A: Depending on how the bride decides to style their hair on one of the most important days of their lives, they want to ensure that their hair is cared for and prepped in the best possible way.

  • Make sure that you are using a gentle hydrating shampoo to cleanse your hair and scalp. Followed by conditioning the hair, depending on the condition of the bride’s hair before the big day, you may want to do a weekly or a bi-weekly hair mask (I have created a hair masque that hydrates and transforms the most damaged hair, my product line is called Hair Freaq, and the product is “U Thirsty” can be found on my website, www.nadiavassell.com).
  • Try not to use too much heat before the months leading up to your big day, but if you do, make sure you are using a heat protectant.
  • If you get a haircut, make sure that it’s a style you also plan on wearing the day of.
  • Get your hair retouched, if you do color your hair. Ensuring that the color is to your liking.
