“Joy meets fashion.” If this describes the ideal vibe you wish to create for your wedding away, allow this Oahu-styled shoot among the lush Hawaiian landscape to serve as your inspiration.

“The goal was to capture the excitement of gathering loved ones in paradise while blending refined details with a sense of fun and spontaneity,” says Kimberly Kimble, photographer and creative director of the shoot.

The island of Oahu itself informed much of the design direction of the day. Drawing inspiration from the coastal views and tropical light, the team wove natural textures, vibrant florals and clean styling into their venue, Four Seasons Oahu.

The first backdrop was the aesthetic pickleball courts for a uniquely fun welcome-party vision. “We wanted to showcase a modern, playful take on destination wedding festivities while highlighting the property’s unique amenities,” Kimberly says.

Models Mari and Wyatt held custom-designed paddles by Briana Horn of Paradise Ink Calligraphy. The bride’s first look, an original by Jules Bly Couture, opened the shoot’s fashion catalog with a flirtiness to match its kickoff event.

“The mini bubble skirt paired with the matching top brought an element of fun and celebration; the metallic brocade added texture, dimension and a contemporary edge,” says the shoot’s fashion and design stylist, Jules Bly. “Styled with retro-inspired accessories, I aimed to strike a balance between elegance and lightheartedness.”

From there, the aesthetic evolved into soft, romantic sophistication. Everything from the florals to the bride’s wedding-day look reflected that. “I chose a drop-waist Pronovias gown perfectly suited to our tropical setting,” Jules says. “With its delicate all-over lace, it gave an effortlessly light and airy feel.”

The couple shared a private moment before the ceremony, reading from custom-designed vow books that echoed the color scheme of the welcome party before heading oceanside to the Four Seasons Oahu’s East Ocean Lawn.

There awaited a floral altar like few had witnessed before. Constructed by Sweet Pea & Petunia and influenced by Jules Bly, the vibrant-toned living structure was set up on a circular platform and created a semicircle to perfectly frame the couple.

As the day drifted on and the sun rose higher in the sky, Kimberly’s job of capturing a consistently soft, airy vibe became more challenging. “Oahu’s light is incredibly dynamic,” she explains, “shifting beautifully throughout the day. So, I leaned into that natural glow and allowed the scenery to become an active part of the imagery.”

The day closed out with a portrait session at Secret Beach. In an apt representation of Hawaii’s incomparably wild beauty, some unexpected visitors joined Mari and Wyatt on the sand.

“During sunset portraits on Secret Beach, a group of Hawaiian monk seals joined us along the shoreline,” Kimberly says. “It was a beautiful reminder that in Hawaii, some of the most meaningful moments can’t be designed or scheduled.”

After capturing an Oahu-styled wedding shoot worthy of any peak wedding Pinterest board, we asked Kimberly what advice she’d impart to destination wedding couples hoping to achieve a similar look and feel for their special days. Her answer was simple.

“Rather than recreating something that could happen anywhere,” the photographer says, “embrace the destination’s unique offerings.”
