Paris is a city well known for its cinematic landmarks — the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and the glass pyramid at the Louvre, to name a few. But when it comes to visiting these iconic Paris locations for your engagement or wedding photos, there’s what you see on Instagram, and then there’s reality. If you’ve got your heart set on capturing your love story against these legendary backdrops, don’t let the logistics intimidate you.
We spoke with destination wedding photographer Dana Arnold of Destinations with Dana, who has years of experience photographing couples in Paris, for her best advice on how to make your session smooth, stress-free, and stunning!
Tips for Tackling the Top 5 Iconic Places for Wedding Photos in Paris
Trocadéro (Eiffel Tower View)
Perfect for those classic, sunrise Eiffel Tower shots. “Arrive early,” Dana says. “The soft light at sunrise and the quiet streets make all the difference.”

Pont Alexandre III
A favorite for elegant, romantic portraits featuring ornate lamp posts, gilded details, and sweeping river views. Best shot early in the morning for privacy and that coveted golden glow.

Louvre Museum Courtyard + Glass Pyramid
The blend of historic and modern architecture makes this a must. “Walk to the quieter back corridors of the Louvre for intimate moments away from the crowds,” Dana recommends.

Tuileries Garden
Timeless Parisian elegance with clean lines, manicured paths, and dreamy greenery. Ideal during golden hour or on a peaceful weekday morning.
Pont de Bir-Hakeim
Bold and architectural, this bridge offers dramatic views of the Eiffel Tower framed by its steel arches. “It’s one of my favorite spots for a more modern Parisian vibe,” Dana shares.
Helpful Things to Know Before You Go

Choose the Right Season
Spring and fall bring beautiful light and mild weather — perfect for strolling between locations without the summer crowds.
Watch Your Belongings
Paris is magical but busy. Keep valuables secure, avoid setting bags down, and consider bringing a trusted guest to watch your things while you’re being photographed. “A small crossbody bag is your best friend,” Dana advises.

Plan for Transportation
Most major photo spots are easily accessible by Metro or rideshare. Uber works well, but for early-morning sessions, a private driver or pre-booked taxi is more reliable. Budget 20–30 minutes between locations to account for light traffic and walking.
Sensible Shoes are a Must
Paris may be the city of love, but it’s also the city of cobblestones. Between walking from one photo location to the next and wandering through gardens or bridges, comfortable shoes are non-negotiable. “You’ll be walking more than you think,” Dana says. “Bring flats or sneakers for in-between shots, and slip your heels on right before we start photographing.”

Dana’s Final Advice
“Keep your photo session fun, not rushed,” Dana reminds couples. “You don’t need to hit every landmark in one day. Two or three well-planned spots give you variety and allow time to really enjoy the experience.”
