Snow-kissed landscapes, crackling fireplaces, and an excuse to snuggle all night long — if you love cozy vibes, a winter wedding may be just the answer. While summer may dominate the wedding season, winter weddings offer intimacy and closeness that makes everything feel oh-so romantic.

For those dreaming of a destination wedding, choosing the right location is key for nailing the winter aesthetic. While the Caribbean boasts beautiful sunny weather throughout the year, it won’t offer the snug energy your inner homebody craves. (Though a tropical honeymoon is the perfect balance!)

From charming mountain villages to historic town squares, the perfect destination can elevate your winter wedding into an unforgettable experience for all. Here are some of the coziest towns that will bring warmth to your wedding celebration.

Manchester, Vermont

Tucked away in the heart of Vermont’s Green Mountains, Manchester is a dreamy destination at any time of year but it’s especially charming when snow blankets the mountaintops! During the winter, the whole town is dressed to impress with holiday lights and decorations — talk about a lovely backdrop for your wedding portraits!

“With its historic village, mountain views, and charming downtown shops, Manchester, Vermont, looks like a Hallmark Holiday movie and is the perfect setting for a winter wonderland destination wedding,” Wilburton Inn’s Tajlei Levis confirms.

Beyond the festive ambiance, there’s also plenty to keep you and your guests busy in Manchester. With plenty of boutique shops, restaurants, and museums, there’s something for everyone! For those seeking adventure, set aside time to visit nearby ski resorts or go for a scenic snowmobile ride.

If your wedding schedule aligns, Levis recommends taking in the Holiday Lighted Tractor Parade or one of the many Manchester Merriment activities.

Jefferson, North Carolina

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, it’s hard to beat the scenery in Jefferson. But beyond breathtaking views, this small North Carolina town offers a rich dose of Southern hospitality and a warm, welcoming atmosphere for its visitors to enjoy.

Local venue owner, Liney Castle of Twickenham House and Hall, notes that “Jefferson is a quaint town almost made up of more Christmas trees than locals!” Now imagine snow dusting those trees as you walk through a winter wonderland toward your I do’s. Bliss!

“Located in Ashe County, NC, Jefferson boasts some of the prettiest mountain views in Western NC, along with local treasures in downtown West Jefferson,” Castle affirms. “This is the perfect backdrop to a cozy winter wedding if snow is on the forecast.”

Jefferson’s vibrant downtown scene is full of energy, so be sure to schedule time to visit the many art museums and shops while you’re there. Or, soak in nature at Mount Jefferson State Natural Area and take in the beautiful scenery!

Vail, Colorado

Vail may be known for its upscale alpine aesthetic, but don’t get this mountain town wrong. There are plenty of intimate venues that are perfect for retreating and snuggling up with a hot toddy or two, whether you’re after luxury or laid-back vibes.

“Vail is as cozy as it is posh – the perfect backdrop to your luxury winter wedding dreams,” promises Loni Peterson of LP Creative Events. “There are several high-end and luxury hotels to host your wedding in and outdoors while enjoying epic mountain views.”

Of course, there’s no shortage of activities to entertain you and your guests! “Whether you are looking to hit the slopes or après like a celebrity, all is possible in Vail,” Peterson states. Downtown, a storybook village offers plenty of storefronts and cafes for pedestrians to shop, dine, and explore.

Mount Lemmon, Arizona

While a desert town may not strike you as a winter wedding destination, Mount Lemmon is a hidden gem located atop the Santa Catalina Mountains that offers snowy landscapes and plenty of Southwestern flair. While it’s a popular destination for locals to beat the summer heat, it’s just as inviting during the colder months.

“Just outside Tucson, Mount Lemmon transforms into a winter wonderland aptly named ‘Summer Haven’ to the locals,” Craig Peterman of Craig Peterman Photography & Videography shares. “Couples can exchange vows surrounded by nature and celebrate in charming cabins or lodges. It’s perfect for those seeking a mix of adventure while not breaking the bank doing so.”

In addition to panoramic vistas, there’s plenty of hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, and ice skating to enjoy. Though just a short drive from Tucson, it’s easy to feel like you’ve escaped to a remote retreat!

Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy

Want a winter destination wedding that calls for your passport? When you think of Italy, you probably think of ancient ruins and heaping dishes of pasta — but the Dolomite Alps offer a dreamy setting for a cozy winter wedding! In particular, Samuele Gallorini of Gallorini & Giorgi Events recommends the alpine town of Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Close enough to Venice for easy access, “the ‘Queen of Dolomites’ is the perfect setting for an elegant and out-of-the-ordinary wedding in the snow,” he assures. “Imagine having your welcome event in Venice and the wedding in one of the beautiful chalets on the ski slopes!”

Madonna di Campiglio is another gem in the Italian Alps. “A jewel nestled in the Brenta Dolomites, it offers immense mountain scenery for unique wedding ceremonies and romantic mountain chalets for out-of-the-ordinary receptions,” Gallorini adds.

The Dolomites offer the ultimate alpine fairytale for your winter wedding, whether you opt for a high-end resort or a cozy ski lodge. You certainly can’t beat the views from any angle! Skiing, sledding, and other winter activities abound, making these spots a perfect destination to turn your wedding celebration into an immersive getaway.

A winter wedding offers you (and your guests!) a unique and magical experience while celebrating your love and choosing the right destination can make all the difference. From the snow-covered peaks of Vermont to the timeless elegance of Italy, each of these cozy towns can bring its own charm to your special day — it’s just a matter of picking the one that feels just right!
