When visionary event planner JoAnn Gregoli and renowned photographer Chris J. Evans collaborated on this Italian styled shoot, their goal extended beyond creating a striking Tuscany wedding inspiration. Together, they curated a masterclass in quiet luxury, organic movement and authentic destination storytelling designed to inspire couples worldwide.

Designing with the Landscape

Gregoli built the concept around the venue’s natural character. “I chose this UNESCO World Heritage location for its breathtaking mountain scenery and natural beauty,” Gregoli says. “The dramatic landscape provides a timeless backdrop that perfectly complements the Monteverdi.”

Rather than forcing an artificial palette onto the space, she let the Italian countryside direct the design. “The mood I wanted to capture was one of timeless elegance, quiet luxury, and a sense of adventure,” she explains. “I selected the natural color palette by drawing inspiration directly from the surrounding landscape. The rich greens, earthy tones, stone textures, and soft alpine light of the region create a timeless and understated aesthetic… Locally grown flowers were used to depict the beauty of the region.”

Catching Light and Motion

For Evans, bringing the location to life meant ditching static posing and working with the environment. “Tuscany is so beautiful already, so the location did a lot of the heavy lifting,” Evans notes. “Our gown was very fairytale old world, and the model had the perfect Italian look. I wanted to keep it a blend of edgy yet real.”

He focused on the interplay of afternoon golden hour, deep architectural shadows, and fluid movement. “Nothing gets me more excited than beautiful natural light,” Evans says. “The afternoon golden hour was superb, and just finding the nooks and crannies in the shade of the old world construction was absolutely stunning. I love capturing movement as well. I really can’t stand static images that feel lifeless, so anytime I can play with movement I love it! It’s really about integrating the subject into the location to the best of my abilities.”

What Couples Can Take Away

Beyond the editorial visual appeal, both creators offer practical advice for couples planning their own destination weddings.

Gregoli encourages couples to stay present and let the setting speak for itself: “My advice to couples planning a destination wedding at Monteverdi is to embrace the setting and let the landscape become part of your celebration. Take time to enjoy the experience with your guests, trust your vendors, and allow moments to unfold organically. The beauty of the mountains and the peaceful atmosphere make an unforgettable backdrop; be sure to focus on being present and making memories rather than trying to perfect every detail.”

Evans points out that the secret to great photos comes down to personal connection: “It comes down to working with a photographer that you feel so safe and comfortable with that you’re able to lose yourself in the moment and lose yourself in the experience and really feel your most beautiful. When you can channel that, and you have a great relationship with the photographer, anything is possible.”
