Spring 2024 New York Bridal Fashion Week painted a picture of pure romance, with a surprising twist! According to our first-hand witness and talented destination wedding photographer, Sarah Bradshaw, the runways overflowed with gowns that paid homage to the 18th century.
Think basque waists – dipping low in the front and exploding with volume at the hips – reminiscent of “stomacher & pannier” styles. Bradshaw spotted this trend with major designers like Justin Alexander, Anne Barge, Lara Knight, Lihi Hod, and Galia Lahav, proving its widespread appeal.
But the influence wasn’t all historical. Texture reigned supreme this season! Gone are the days of plain fabrics; intricate details and rich textures are a must-have in Spring/Summer 2025. Additionally, belts are making a comeback. Whether a gown cascaded from a natural waist or dipped lower, a belt cinched the silhouette for a flattering, ultra-romantic look.
And romantic it was! “Even the more modern, edgy gowns were dripping in romance,” Bradshaw tells us. Delicate floral embroidery, particularly trailing vines, added a touch of whimsy to many gowns. Lace toppers offered a touch of tradition, while dramatic capes emerged as a chic and unexpected alternative to veils.
From historical echoes to captivating textures and a relentless focus on romance, Spring 2024 New York Bridal Fashion Week offered a diverse array of trends for the bride-to-be. Whether you dream of a classic silhouette or a modern twist, there’s a gown waiting to write your own…cue Taylor Swift’s “Love Story”.
