While on vacation in Maui three years ago, Jessica and Cary fell in love with the majestic beauty of this Pacific island. Experiencing pristine beaches, intriguing culture, and deep ocean blue waters as far as the eye can see, the couple knew this is where they’d one day say their “I do’s.”

“For our wedding, we wanted a chance to share our love of the island, and all of our experiences with the people that we loved the most,’’ said the bride. “We were surprised at the number of guests that were willing to travel such a distance to join us.”

After informing guests, Jessica quickly got to work planning, knowing hosting a wedding thousands of miles from home during a global pandemic would be no simple task. Recruiting a skilled planner would be key to avoiding any mishaps along the way.

“I could not have done this without Kim Yonamine directing it all. She was the resident expert,” Jessica says. “She took my ideas and selected the best vendors to make our dreams turn into a reality.”

With the wedding planning in good hands, Jessica focused on finding activities to enjoy with guests while in Maui.

“I used Maui Activity Concierge to plan a beautiful welcome dinner with a personal chef. They also helped us plan a Private Snorkel Charter with Sail Maui as well as a luau event at the Feast of Lele,” the bride says. “We were also lucky enough to experience an extremely unique rehearsal dinner with Kiawe Outdoor.”

Leading up to the wedding, the couple checked and double-checked COVID protocols, following directions verbatim from the www.mauicounty.gov travel website.

“We got tested as a trial about a month in advance of our wedding so we could be confident that we knew exactly what to do when the time came. The process itself was much easier than anticipated as long as you read all the directions and follow them,” Jessica says.

When the wedding finally arrived, everything went smoothly, and guests were grateful for each experience the couple planned–especially the wedding! For couples in the planning process, Jessica and Cary offered their recipe for a successful celebration.

TRUST the experts. Use a quality wedding planner and concierge services that know their craft and provide you with the best on the island. There were many times where I thought I wanted something different, but I am glad I trusted others. Also, when the photographer tells you to step in wet sand and you don’t want to, just do it! They were the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen!’’
