Love at first sight doesn’t always happen just between two people. Sometimes it can happen with a place. For this special couple, they fell in love with a gorgeous venue in Maui, Hawaii.

“To be honest, we were still a bit on the fence about doing a destination wedding until Diana found a picture of Haiku Mill. One picture on a blog. That sealed the deal,” says Jason. “It encapsulated the concept of what we pictured our dream wedding would look like. From that moment on, it was ‘Okay, we’re getting married there. What do we need to do to make that happen?’” says Jason.

And boy did they make it happen. A two-year engagement gave them enough time to plan a stunning wedding from afar and incorporate DIY details like collected books as centerpieces and handmade candle favors.

Guests enjoyed a great deal of time on the island with most people staying a week. “We secured a large block of rooms for our guests at the Grand Wailea. We kept the itinerary loose because we realized many of our guests had never been to Hawaii and we knew this trip represented a significant vacation. But suffice it to say, everyone had a blast,” says Jason

Even though they had lots of lead-time, the couple still had to trust in their wedding vendors to get the job done. “[Planning from afar] can make you a little anxious but you just keep telling yourself that you’re working with professionals who do this for a living,” says the groom.

The 77 guests used words like “magical” to describe their experience at Diana and Jason’s wedding, so chances are, those professionals pulled off a pretty spectacular event.
