Palm Springs, with its breathtaking landscapes and serene ambiance, set the perfect stage for Sushma and Avinish’s three-day destination wedding extravaganza. The couple, hailing from different states, chose to escape the traditional and embrace a celebration that was not only a union of two souls but also a vacation for all attendees. Let’s dive into the details of their love story and the incredible journey of their wedding weekend.

Avinish and Sushma’s love story began with a setup orchestrated by a mutual friend at what they fondly call “The Telugu Convention.” Little did they know that this chance meeting would lead to a beautiful journey filled with shared love for pizza, tequila, and Barcade games. After three years of long-distance romance, Avinish decided it was time to make it official.

The couple opted for a destination wedding with a vision of making their celebration more of a vacation than an obligation for their guests. Choosing Palm Springs allowed them to spread out the events across three days, providing ample time for everyone to enjoy the weather, explore local attractions like Joshua Tree, and relax by the pool. According to the couple, “Ease and comfort were top priority.”

The Renaissance Esmeralda in Indian Wells served as the backdrop for the festivities. The resort’s intimate setting, coupled with palm trees and scenic mountain views, created the perfect atmosphere for the couple’s vision. The Rose Lawn, where the wedding ceremony took place, offered a stunning backdrop for exchanging vows.

Elegant Affairs, the chosen decorator, brought the couple’s vision to life with distinct vibes for each event. From a tropical Miami vibe at the Sangeet to a Moroccan-inspired decor for the wedding ceremony, every detail was meticulously planned. Special touches included an afterparty by the fire pits, a double baraat, and even a pool party with fresh coconuts engraved with the couple’s initials.

The couple’s ceremony incorporated traditional elements with a modern twist. They chose a priest who could explain the ceremony in English, making it enjoyable for all guests. The unique ring game and the Jeelakara Bellam tradition added personal touches that reflected the couple’s culture and values.

A site visit proved to be crucial in visualizing the decor and bringing the couple’s imagination to life. Sushma shared, “I wouldn’t have thought to do that if we didn’t do a site visit.” The visit to their Palm Springs venue helped them plan unique elements like tables around olive trees in the courtyard.

Choosing a destination wedding allowed the couple to create an intimate and personalized experience. Sushma explained, “Because it was farther away, everyone that came were people that we as the bride and groom actually had close personal relationships with, which made it that much more special.”

Reflecting on their experience, Sushma and Avinish offered valuable advice to future couples: “No amount of months or preparation can make your wedding weekend 100% flawless. Things can change and will go wrong, but that’s normal and no one will notice but you. Don’t let those small changes ruin your weekend, instead, relax and enjoy every moment and soak it all in.”

Sushma and Avinish’s three-day destination wedding in Palm Springs was a testament to love, joy, and the beauty of embracing a unique celebration. From the stunning decor to the intimate moments, their wedding weekend was a true reflection of their personalities and a memorable experience for all who attended.
