Once upon a time, in the sunny state of Oklahoma, two college students named Montana and Eric crossed paths. Their love story began at The University of Oklahoma, where Montana had recently become single. Approaching her with a playful comment, Eric said, “It’s about time you’re single,” sparking a connection that would shape their futures.
As their relationship blossomed, Montana shared her childhood dreams with Eric, including her desire to get married barefoot on the beautiful beaches of Cabo San Lucas. Little did she know that her dream would become a reality.
When Eric proposed to Montana, they both knew that a destination wedding in Cabo was meant to be. Montana’s family had been vacationing in Cabo for years, and the allure of exchanging vows in their favorite beach paradise was irresistible. “Right after Eric proposed to me and wedding planning began, I knew without a doubt we would have our wedding in Cabo,” Montana said.
Planning a wedding from afar came with its challenges, as Montana and Eric had to make decisions without being physically present. However, they embraced the adventure and resolved any issues that arose, knowing that their dream destination wedding was worth every effort.
Finding the perfect venue was no easy task, but when they laid eyes on a breathtaking reception courtyard at the Grand Solmar, Montana and Eric knew they had discovered their ideal location. The Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort, Golf and Spa exceeded their expectations, checking all their boxes and then some.
The couple poured their hearts into the wedding preparations, focusing on creating a beachy bohemian luxe ambiance while maintaining an elegant and traditional atmosphere. The décor and florals became the stars of the show, transforming their wedding day into a dream come true. Montana’s favorite element was a shoe stand at the ceremony, encouraging guests to go barefoot on the sandy beach. Plush poufs and a velvet couch provided cozy seating, while golf carts transported guests to and from the beach. Himalayan salt rock shot glasses served as unique seating assignments, despite the challenge of transporting 120 of them from Dallas to Cabo.
The ceremony itself was a beautifully intimate affair, with a gentle breeze blowing through the air. The couple kept the ceremony short and sweet, embracing the possibility of the winds in their seaside vows. Adding a personal touch, a close family friend officiated their wedding, making the moment even more special.
Planning a destination wedding from afar required a strong support system. Montana and Eric relied on their wedding planner, Ivory and Vine Event Co – Karli Spangler, who played a vital role in bringing their dream wedding to life. The couple also made several pre-wedding site visits, ensuring that every detail was meticulously planned.
Reflecting on their experience, Montana couldn’t help but think about how their wedding would have been different if it had been held closer to home. She expressed, “I truly believe if we would have had our wedding at home, I would have regretted not having it in Cabo.” Despite the challenges of cost and COVID that prevented some loved ones from attending, Montana and Eric cherished the memories they created in their dream destination.
With their wedding now behind them, Montana and Eric offered some heartfelt advice to future couples preparing for their special day. They encouraged soon-to-be-weds to embrace the planning process and enjoy every moment. “It goes by so fast,” Montana said. “Try to soak it in as much as possible. We had such an incredible time at our wedding; all of the planning and stress was more than worth it.”
And so, Montana and Eric’s destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas became a beautiful testament to their love, a celebration that fulfilled childhood dreams and created lasting memories in a tropical paradise.
