When high school sweethearts Olivia and Jeremy decided to tie the knot, they dreamt of a wedding celebration that would honor their many years of dating and blissfully propel them into married life. The decision to do a destination wedding achieved that dream.

“Jeremy has a small family and I have a huge family! As much as we wanted everyone in our lives to be there, we had to compromise. So, we decided on a destination wedding that was unique, intimate, and incredibly dreamy,” Olivia explained. “We also realized that having a destination wedding was like having one, big vacation with all of our friends and family which is what totally sold us on the idea. Lastly, it cut out the distractions of life and put us somewhere where we could solely focus on each other and why we were there!”

With the help of their wedding planner, Sarah from Oliva Willow, the couple embarked on a journey of selecting the ideal destination. From Palm Springs to Malibu, from Joshua Tree to Scottsdale, they explored various options. But it was Los Cabos that ultimately checked every box on their list. “Fun? Check! Amazing scenery? Check! Reliable weather? Check! The list goes on. We didn’t run into any issues specific to the destination!” the bride says.

After months of deliberation, Sarah introduced Olivia to “The Cape” in Cabo, and it was love at first sight. The hotel’s breezy, aesthetic environment was the epitome of perfection, with the natural beauty of the property acting as a canvas for the floral arrangements and decor. In addition, the convenience of having all their food, cake, and bartending needs taken care of by the venue streamlined the planning process. In addition to the fantastic venue offerings, Olivia and Jeremy owe much of their peace of mind during the planning process to their wedding planner’s support.

“Having a wedding planner to keep you on track is of utmost importance, especially with a destination wedding! We put most of our trust in Sarah and The Cape, which definitely paid off in the end,” the groom says. The couple also made one pre-wedding site visit to tour The Cape and taste the menu, which helped them envision their big day.

Olivia and Jeremy’s desire for the overarching theme of the wedding was a delight of the senses. “We wanted to focus our efforts on all five senses. Fabulous food/drink, acoustic guitar during the ceremony, lots of floral, candlelight, neutral colors, varying textures, and not to mention close enough to the beach to hear the ocean waves crashing in the distance,” the couple says.

By the time the destination wedding came around, Olivia and Jeremy had already legally married in their hometown, allowing them to focus on an intimate, symbolic ceremony in Cabo. With coconut cocktails in hand and handpicked songs on acoustic guitar in the background, the two exchanged vows of forever.

“We wanted a simple, yet memorable ceremony, and that’s exactly what we had. The entire ceremony was about 25 minutes long and perfect for us!” Olivia remarked.

When asked to share advice for future couples, Olivia and Jeremy’s answer was heartfelt and profound. “Our main piece of advice is to prioritize yourselves!!! You can take this advice in many different directions for your big day but while we planned many things with our guests in mind, we kept ourselves at the forefront,” they shared. “As silly as that sounds, you and your partner have been waiting for this day… might as well do exactly what you want without anyone else’s opinions getting in the way. Lastly, hire a wedding planner! They make the entire process so much more streamlined and make those tough decisions easy.”
