Avid travelers Yvonne and David knew that they wanted a smaller, intimate wedding after they got engaged. As frequent guests of the Hawaiian Islands, a destination wedding in a place they love was a perfect fit.
The newlyweds were excited and eager to share Hawaii with their friends and family. Their guests shared in the excitement, with everyone looking forward to visiting Hawaii and celebrating the love of Yvonne and David.
Once the location of their wedding was decided, Yvonne and David immediately hired a planner. “A wedding planner is a definite must,” says Yvonne. “Someone local to the destination really helped with booking vendors as they already have preferred lists.”
With the assistance of an experienced planner familiar with the best vendors in the area, planning their dream day was an awesome experience. So awesome, Yvonne admits she would do it all over again.
When she needed to coordinate or discuss details with vendors, their planner was consistently able to help out.
Travel logistics were a bit tough to coordinate with all of the friends and family of the couple. “It was too much to organize travel for everyone,” says Yvonne. “We found it simpler to let everyone know the dates we were in Hawaii and the hotel we were staying at.”
Giving out the details and allowing the guests to choose where they wanted to stay allowed flexibility for their guests, as everyone has different needs and wants in where they choose to stay.
Once everyone arrived on the islands, it was time to celebrate.
Yvonne and David’s teal and white details made their wedding visually stunning. The pop of color added pizazz to their nuptials.
All of Yvonne and David’s selections made this event a captivating and drop-dead gorgeous party. If the newlyweds would have chosen a hometown wedding versus a wedding away, it would have been a completely different experience.
“A wedding at home would have included a larger guest count,” says Yvonne. “It would have been more stressful and require much more planning on my part.”
Deciding on a destination wedding not only eliminated stress for the couple, but also gave them exactly what they wanted. “We really wanted a romantic wedding with just our closest friends and family and we felt that a destination wedding was the better option for us.”
When their wedding day arrived, it was a truly stunning occasion filled with love and glitzy accents.
For the couples that are in the process of planning their own destination wedding, Yvonne and David advise, “Get in contact with potential wedding planners early on and really have a feel for how comfortable you are with them. Continuous communication and trust with your wedding planner is also very important.”
