Hayley and Robert got engaged and instantly knew a Las Vegas destination wedding was the perfect way to start their life as a married couple. “As this is both of our second marriages, and we have a 3-year-old, we felt that we wanted a wedding that was small, intimate, and a complete celebration of our relationship and family,” says Hayley.

After choosing Valley of Fire as the place to host their destination wedding, it was time to tell their friends and family the news. Hayley says, “We were not able to have everyone attend due to financial reasons, and while most were very excited for us, there were a few people who were understandably upset that they would miss our magical day. We took it upon ourselves to share our frequent flyer points with a few people who otherwise would not have been there, to ensure we were surrounded by those we love and adore. “

Thanks to the help of Cactus and Lace Weddings, the couple was able to spend time with their guests and create everlasting memories. ” It was one of the easiest experiences of our lives! But that is purely due to the professionalism, knowledge and experience of Cactus and Lace,” Hayley states. “They took care of the vendors and planning.  We just showed up!” Hayley expressed just how thoughtful her planners were as she describes her creative touches. “We had ordered a small wooden plaque for our son to carry that read ‘Don’t worry ladies, I’m still single’, unfortunately it was left at the hotel and we didn’t get to use it! But Cactus and Lace had noted my vision through Pintrest and had unexpectedly ordered a similar flag, so our son had a prop after all. I was beyond grateful to them,” says Hayley.

Hayley’s testimony to the experience speaks volumes as she says, “Given that we both love the States, it was just a matter of refining our vision and desires for the wedding trip and finding a venue that was true to that vision…we were able to have a venue that was unique, close to nature, and memorable, but still within close proximity to a major city, and the best venue in the world for a Bachelorette and Bachelor party!” Of course, the financial aspect is always important when considering a destination wedding, and Hayley admits that her first-choice destination of Sedona, Arizona was too expensive. However, Hayley says that once they switched locations they spent “less money on the wedding, less stress in the planning process, and more money on the six-week honeymoon road trip we took with our son after the wedding!”

The best advise that the couple can give to others thinking of having a destination wedding is to remember to “go with your gut.” Hayley says, “if you don’t feel like it’s right, it’s not.”
