Elopement appealed to Cortney and Ian from the start of their wedding planning process. They wanted to leave the usual stressors of wedding planning behind and saying their vows in an exotic, dreamy location.
“We chose Bora Bora because an overwater bungalow was a dream of both of ours. It’s a PERFECT place for a romantic getaway,” the couple says.
Cortney and Ian made sure to read reviews and look at photos of all of the resort options. In the end, they went with the luxurious accommodations at Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora.
“We definitely splurged on our resort! Since this was our wedding and honeymoon we wanted to go all out,” says the couple.
Perhaps the best part about choosing to elope in Bora Bora for the couple was that there were substantially fewer decisions to be made than there would have been had they married at home. Although the bride did have choices to make regarding their ceremony at the Four Seasons (flowers, cake, location, etc), the limited number of options lightened the load for Cortney.
“This was great for me because I tend to be indecisive and question myself,” the bride says.
Unfortunately, COVID brought delays to the couple’s elopement plans, but since it was just the two of them, the couple was able to easily reschedule. The resort coordinated every detail of the ceremony, bringing in local vendors, and ensured that everything went smoothly.
“My wedding was exactly what I wanted,” Cortney says. “I did not stress about anything and enjoyed the entire process. The resort took care of everything and made our day (and week) perfect. I would do it again in a heartbeat and not change a thing!”
With family and friends who supported their decision, Ian and Cortney felt they could fully relax and enjoy their intimate wedding in Bora Bora. Their advice for couples who want to do the same thing, “Do what you want. Don’t let outsiders talk you into something that you do not want!”
