If you’re wondering whether you really need a wedding planner for your destination wedding—just ask Maya and Rishi. Their vibrant, joy-filled weekend in Pescadero, Mexico was packed with heart, humor, heritage, and a whole lot of sparkle, thanks to the guidance of Jenni Grubba Events. Held at the stunning Mas Olas Resort, their wedding was equal parts vacation, family reunion, and heartfelt celebration.
“We loved the idea of a vacation-style wedding where people could really disconnect, relax, and be present in a beautiful location,” Maya says. “We especially wanted everyone in the same spot so we could run into each other all weekend.”

Finding Their Hidden Gem
The couple started with a vision: something off-the-grid but still luxurious, laid-back yet full of intention. With family and friends flying in from both coasts, Baja felt like the perfect middle ground. “We targeted Baja because it was super close for the west coast crew and a relatively easy flight for those coming from the east coast,” says Maya. That’s when they brought in Jenni, who met Maya and her best friend for a venue scouting trip.

They stumbled upon Mas Olas almost by accident. “We were mostly looking for a space for guests to stay and looking at other venues in Todos Santos for the actual wedding,” says Maya. “Once we stepped foot onto the property, we realized that not only was it STUNNING, it would be perfect for the whole weekend of events.”

A Ceremony That’s So Them
Incorporating both their cultures, Maya and Rishi opted for a hybrid Hindu-Jewish ceremony that was anything but traditional. “Our mutual best friend married us and the bride’s sister was the ‘rabbi’ and the groom’s brother was the ‘Hindu priest,’” says Maya. “We all walked out together for the processional and had a fun light-hearted vibe. It was a tight 20 minutes just like we requested and was full of jokes and laughs—and some tears—as our love story was recounted.”

Styled with Meaning (and a Million Disco Balls)
Maya’s design vision was whimsical, personal, and twinkle-lit. “I wanted a wildflower look that was playful and fun! I was also very into twinkle lights and a disco ball to set the mood,” she shares. The result was a joyful explosion of color, sparkle, and sentimentality, including a special tribute to loved ones who had passed. “We had a special area for pictures in memory of loved ones that couldn’t be with us—the picture-scape was at every event and was very special.”
One of the biggest wins? A laid-back approach to dinner. “We did NOT want to sit 220+ people down for a formal dinner so I asked Jenni for a boujee backyard BBQ vibe to keep it chill,” Maya says. Mission accomplished.

Dressed with History & Heart
From a vintage welcome night look that belonged to Maya’s late mother, to a modern Flora Bridal gown for the ceremony and a vintage stunner for the reception, Maya’s wardrobe paid homage to the past and celebrated the present. Rishi kept it sharp in Suit Supply, complementing the laid-back luxury vibe.

Planning with Peace of Mind
Planning a destination wedding isn’t for the faint of heart—but Maya and Rishi had a secret weapon. “Honestly—Jenni did it all! Rishi and I are super busy so we turned over the reins to JGE and let her do her thing,” says Maya. “So… I suppose I learned that you absolutely need to hire a trusted planning partner for destination weddings.”
They visited Baja twice, but Jenni made dozens of trips to the venue to manage details, vendors, and design. “There’s so much more involved that we’ll never know about, but she’s the best and we couldn’t have been more excited to have her.”

Why a Destination Wedding?
For Maya and Rishi, it was about presence. “I think our guests were really able to let loose and relax in our venue,” Maya reflects. “Plus we had a whole weekend to celebrate and really be present with our friends and family. It’s just a different vibe not in Mexico!”
And that vibe? Pure magic.
