Mike and Andres met during their second year at Harvard Business School. They had mutual friends who decided to go on a fun little trip to the coast of Provincetown, MA. According to the couple, that was the day their friendship blossomed.

“We were inseparable given our mutual love of late-night food, traveling abroad, and laughing over the smallest of things. All our friends egged us to date during that time. It took Mike and me a long time to realize they were right, but better late than never,” Andres says.

To the newly engaged couple, a destination wedding just made the most sense. Andres’ family is spread out all over the world, so they were already used to attending destination weddings. And, since Mike’s family lives in San Diego, CA, it would only be a short flight to their beloved vacation spot of Cabo San Lucas.

“Two years before our wedding we had booked a last-minute vacation to the resort. One of the nights while watching the sunset we got to experience another wedding and we both thought it was beautiful. When thinking of locations this resort was at the top of our list given the great memories we had from our vacation,” the two say.

With about 100 guests invited, the couple got to work on the details of their special day. Luckily, they were able to utilize the resort’s on-property wedding coordination office to help them with all the details, big or small.

“We relied on our wedding planner and provided her direction through internet searches, Pinterest boards and Andres’ mom had a few good recommendations,” Mike says.

The days spent in Cabo San Lucas couldn’t have been more “Mike and Andres.” The ceremony itself was set on the sand by the Pacific Ocean and with the sun setting behind the couple. They each walked in with their moms, had their nieces as the flower girls and their sister-in-law officiated the ceremony!

“It was very personal because we had three of our closest friends give readings before we exchanged our self-written vows. There were a lot of tears of joy,” Andres recalls.

Following the heartfelt ceremony was the outdoor reception, close to the beach surrounding a large circular pool.

Lights hung over the pool and tables to created a warm, inviting atmosphere. The decorations were simple, yet elegant, with white tables, eucalyptus leaves, lit candles and chocolate-colored tiffany chairs.

“We had a few toasts from family members and friends, a four-course dinner, and then proceeded to dance the night away,” the couple says.

Although the location of Andres and Mike’s wedding shined, looking back on the day having everyone together in one place is what they found to be truly priceless.
