Karina and Marrc met as teenagers while working at a trampoline park. Soon after, the two bounced into a relationship and then spent much of their time attending various events like prom, music festivals, sneaker conventions and family trips. After three blissful years of this, Marrc proposed to Karina on a family vacation to Cabo San Lucas.

“I imagined that our summer vacation in 2019 was going to be a typical fun Valdivia family vacation but on June 9th, Marrc got down on one knee without creasing his Kobe’s and asked me to be his wife,” Karina says. “I always imagined that I would be able to tell when the big question was coming but he really surprised me, and I couldn’t have been happier.”

Following the engagement, Karina and Marrc began sorting out the specifics of their wedding arrangements. They initially considered hosting the event on the west coast, but travel expenses for Karina’s out-of-town family would have been pricey regardless.

“We really wanted to make it worthwhile for guests considering how much time and money they were going to have to spend to be there for us,” Karina says. “The idea was for our guests not only to be there for our big day but also be able to make a memorable vacation out of it too!”

Due to ongoing COVID restrictions, organizing the venue and picking out decor for the wedding became a challenge for the couple. Luckily, thanks to Google, Karina and Marrc found the ideal all-inclusive resort on the Yucatán Peninsula, Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancún (FACC) and its wedding planning partners from Dezibel.

“We had to choose all the decor off of a PowerPoint that the Dezibel team put together which made me very nervous. There was always that ‘what if it doesn’t look or turn out how we pictured it to be?’ With that being said, we took it upon ourselves to provide extremely detailed collages and numerous photos of exactly what we envisioned for our big day. We were very lucky and the Dezibel team absolutely nailed it.” Karina says.

As the wedding approached, Karina and Marrc put the finishing touches on the decor to blend with their orange, blush pink, and white flowers.

“[The resort] did provide mostly everything, but there were a few things we knew we could save money on,” Karina says. “We created on our own save the dates, formal invites, name tags for our shot glass seating chart, welcome signs, and bar signs.”

When the day of the wedding finally arrived, Fiesta Americana took the reins. Karina made her way down the aisle in a white floral lace gown, walking past loved ones and finally arriving at Marrc’s side. They shared their vows to the sound of crashing waves and sealed it all with a kiss.

Following the beachside ceremony, the couple and their guests migrated to the outdoor reception. All were welcomed by a lively mariachi band, delicious Spanish hors d’oeuvres, small party gifts, and a sleek dance floor in a matte black finish (perfect for dancing the night away)!

“Initially we thought it was something that was going to be impossible but it was absolutely doable. So, if you’re thinking about it, do it!” Karina says. “This is your sign! The memories you will have in the end are priceless.”
