Meseret and Sterling’s story began on a vacation in Grenada Saint George, an unexpected spark that eventually led to their stunning destination wedding at Hilton Rose Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The couple shared insights into their magical day with us, shedding light on the process, challenges, and the joy of bringing their dream colorful Jamaica wedding to life.
Choosing a destination wedding was a strategic move for Meseret and Sterling, allowing them to create an extravagant celebration within their budget. The allure of a vacation with their closest loved ones added an extra layer of appeal. Sterling expressed, “It’s also a bonus to take a vacation with the people we love the most.”
Selecting Jamaica as their destination was no random choice. After extensive online research, the couple discovered that Jamaica embodied the aesthetics and vibes they envisioned for their special day. The abundance of beautiful venues and a plethora of activities for guests sealed the deal. However, they encountered a hurdle when the weather played spoilsport on the wedding day. Meseret shared, “The only issue we had was the weather not cooperating on the special day. The Hilton made sure to still execute everything beautifully.”
Meseret took a trip seven months prior to the wedding to explore various venues, and the Hilton Rose Hall stood out. Its beachfront ceremony and tropical garden reception offered the perfect blend, as Sterling recalled, “It was the best of both worlds.”
The couple infused personal touches into their wedding, including DIY projects like monogram-engraved coconuts used as a unique seating chart. Fans engraved with their names and wedding date kept guests cool and served as cherished mementos. The table numbers featured baby pictures, vacation snapshots, and engagement photos.
Despite the initial plan for a beach ceremony, the unpredictable weather prompted a switch to the grand ballroom, creating an equally enchanting setting. Meseret praised their wedding planner, Jade Mweemba with Gian Events, saying, “Our wedding planner was the best and guided us through everything. She truly made everything we asked for happen and more!”
Reflecting on the decision to host a destination wedding, Sterling emphasized, “There was no way we could afford our dream wedding with our budget. We would have been settling to please others. You only have one time to have the wedding of your dreams.”
Meseret and Sterling’s advice to future couples planning a destination wedding is to incorporate a wedding planner into their budget as it makes the entire process smoother. As Meseret wisely put it, “You only have one time to have the wedding of your dreams.” In the end, their destination wedding at Hilton Rose Hall in Jamaica became a captivating chapter in their love story, filled with joy, elegance, and the beauty of the Caribbean.
