For the groom, Matt, Shelburne, Vermont has always felt almost like a second home. “His grandparents lived on Shelburne Farms,” the bride, Debbie shares. “He’s been visiting since childhood—even attended camp there!” With such strong family connections, choosing a wedding in Shelburne was an obvious decision for the couple. Plus, late September was the perfect time to enjoy a destination wedding amongst Vermont’s fall foliage.
Debbie and Matt also considered their family’s needs, selecting Vermont to make it easier for a loved one who couldn’t travel far. “After choosing Vermont, the Brick House was the first and only choice. It’s objectively the best venue in the state,” Debbie says.
Organizing a wedding from a distance can be challenging, but Debbie and Matt had a great advantage: Jayson Munn, their wedding planner. “Jayson and his team made everything so perfect,” Debbie says. If there were any issues, the bride didn’t even know about them!
To make sure their guests were comfortable, the couple reserved room blocks at local hotels and even rented out the Inn at Shelburne Farms for Debbie’s extended family. “Having the entire Inn filled with my family was a dream come true,” Debbie adds. They also arranged buses to shuttle guests to and from the venue.
Working closely with local vendors, they brought their vision to life—from the beautiful floral arrangements by Jayson Munn to the farm-to-table dishes from Cloud 9. “Food was verrrrrry important to me,” Debbie says. Guests enjoyed a local cheese and charcuterie board, Lake Champlain chocolates, and even gelato from Shy Guy Gelato.
Their wedding day was truly magical. First-look photos at Shelburne Farms set the mood, capturing Debbie and Matt’s love against Vermont’s breathtaking scenery. The ceremony, officiated by Matt’s father, was deeply personal, blending heartfelt moments with stunning visuals. Debbie’s all-white decor added an elegant and glamorous touch to the day.
As for the reception, “I told the rental company to bring Ibiza to Vermont,” Debbie says. They went all out with three disco balls, a fog machine, and colorful lasers. The music—a lively mix of DJ and live instruments—kept everyone dancing. “No one sat at their table after dinner! It was such a blast.”
From the meaningful venue to the Ibiza-inspired reception, every detail told Matt and Debbie’s unique story. As Debbie says, “Many guests told me it’s the best wedding they’ve ever attended.”
