Moscow couple Daria and Andrey always knew what they envisioned for their wedding. “We always wanted to spend our day in a beautiful place between the mountains and sea,” says the bride. “We [suddenly] realized that it would be a destination wedding. We thought for a very long time about where and how we would like to organize our ceremony…”

The couple used modern technology like the Internet and various mobile apps to narrow-in on their wedding choices. “We spent a lot of time choosing the place…we looked at a lot of pictures and blogs on the Internet and finally we found our special place. At first we wanted to do the wedding in Italy, but in the end we chose Montenegro with its spectacular views, mountains, sea, incredible architecture, hospitality and picturesque towns.” Montenegro is a Balkin country along the Adriatic Sea known for its gorgeous topography and Medieval villages.

After finding their “special place” for their wedding, Daria and Andrey decided on the most intimate of weddings – just the two of them. “Family and friends were happy for us and didn’t take offense to the fact that we decided to spend our day together [just us two].” Daria and Andrey were also heavily influenced by Instagram when making design and destination decisions.

“We mainly used Instagram [to plan our wedding] and it worked!” says the couple. “On Instagram we saw incredible wedding photos and just fell in love with Montenegro. We also found our photographer/videographer and wedding planner on Instagram.” When we asked the couple what it was like planning a wedding away, they had only positive things to say.

“Today there are so many possibilities for connecting,” says the couple. “Thanks to the Internet, we mainly communicated via WATSAPP. Our photographer lives in Italy, so we communicated via social networks and first saw each other in Montenegro. We met and discussed the wedding in person with our wedding planner and other vendors from Moscow.”

When we asked Daria how their destination wedding differed from a wedding hosted in their hometown of Moscow, this is what the bride had to say. “I think we spent less and we had a great honeymoon in Montenegro. Our wedding day was like a dream and I’m sure that a [wedding] in Moscow would have been very different.”

As for advice for other couples, this bride kept it straightforward and simple: “Do not try to organize a wedding for yourself. Look for a good wedding planner and trust them.”
