High on both of their visit lists, Michael and Elizabeth knew they wanted to have their destination wedding somewhere where they could experience majestic mountains, never-ending fjords and cascading waterfalls. The idea of saying “I do” anywhere else other than Norway was unimaginable.
Considered their “land of fairytales,” the couple believe their location for their destination wedding was their very own happily ever after. “We’ve had many beautiful moments and unique experiences traveling the world together, so when we began discussing our wedding plans there was no doubt that it would be a destination wedding,” says the couple. “A destination wedding allowed us as a couple to craft something special for our loved ones to experience and be part of in ways that are different than a traditional wedding.”
With a small and intimate wedding of only 16 guests, the couple not only wanted to declare their love for each other with their closest family and friends, but also wanted to provide them with the complete Norway experience by planning a pre-wedding itinerary full of activities.
The lovebirds agree that their destination wedding was more of a romantic vacation than anything thanks to their wedding planner. “Ann Peters at Your Adventure Wedding took our general ideas and came up with very specific locales and activities, and she even got us group rates on some of the activities that we wanted to do. With her help, the planning was more fun than stressful.”
Having their destination wedding be what they wanted rather than what people expected, the couple got the chance to tailor the experience how they saw fit. They describe their wedding as “fun and exciting,” rather than traditional and local.
We asked the couple to share some advice for other couples that are planning their own destination weddings. “We would suggest planning an experience for your guests to get the feel of the destination before the wedding,” says the couple. “These people love you so much they’re willing to fly thousands of miles to celebrate you, so we think it’s great to reward them with a cool experience. Your wedding will be more memorable the more they experience and fall in love with the country you brought them to.”
