After taking several vacations to Rosemary Beach with their friends and a few light-hearted discussions that they could be married there one day, it was no surprise that Adam and Laura chose the Florida destination for their wedding. The familiarity with the area and the fact that the groom’s parents lived there gave them the upper hand on knowing the best time to celebrate in town with their loved ones.
“We have always loved the beauty and quaintness of the area,” Laura said. “Everyone was excited for a beach trip during the best time of year…the weather was absolutely perfect!” The only potential hitch the couple faced was that their wedding day fell on the same day as the Alabama vs. Georgia college football game.
After considering a date change, the bride and groom decided it would be fun to get ready while watching the game. “We ended up getting some great photos of the wedding party’s reactions while watching the exciting game!”
Not much effort had to go into guest arrangements because most were local, although a few family members flew in from the airport. The ceremony, however, was within a gated residential area so guests parked across the street and rode in rented golf carts to the site.
Adam and Laura made Pinterest-inspired beach s’mores labeled “S’more Love” as party favors. They credited their effortless planning process to their wedding planner, Britain Lamon. “I couldn’t have done this without her help,” the bride said. “The overall experience was easier than we expected and only involved one trip to meet with vendors!”
The newlyweds estimated that they would have spent the same amount if they had a wedding at home, but found the perks in choosing their destination instead. “Because of the exclusiveness of the area and the frequency of weddings there, prices weren’t low,” Laura said. “The positive was that we didn’t have to book a venue because the wedding was outside of [Adam’s] parents’ home.”
Laura’s best advice for future destination couples is to hire a wedding planner: “Having someone to coordinate with the vendors can save you a lot of time and expense!”
