When LeAnn met James in May 2020 through a mutual friend, a quirky connection sparked almost instantly. As the night wrapped, James turned to LeAnn and said, “You’re really weird, but I like talking to you.” That offbeat charm actually proved to be the start of something extraordinary.
Fast forward three years later, and the couple brought that same spark—and plenty of style—to the mountains of Colorado for their destination wedding in Telluride.
A Floral Fantasy in the Rockies
Set against the base of the San Juan Mountains, LeAnn and James envisioned a wedding that mirrored the changing season—where late summer melted into the richness of fall. Bold blocks of orange, apricot, peach, and pink framed every corner of their celebration, orchestrated seamlessly by K2 Event Co.
LeAnn’s dream? A modern wildflower fantasy, vibrant and whimsical, yet romantic and timeless. Florals dominated in the most artful way—from the petal-lined aisle in contemporary white boxes to the show-stopping head table arrangement that read more like an enchanted tapestry than a centerpiece.
Dahlia Floral Design brought LeAnn’s vision vividly to life, pairing playful dahlias with garden roses in bursts of warm, saturated hues. Floral “clouds” floated above the reception dance floor, mingling with twinkling disco balls and candlelight, elevating the night into something truly otherworldly.
The Fashion: From Bridal Elegance to Party Sparkle
LeAnn’s fashion journey made as much of a statement as her decor. She walked down the aisle in the ethereal Pronovias Privee “Crescent” gown—its A-line silhouette glimmering with soft glitter and lace tulle, crowned by a pearl-embellished veil and dramatic tulle overskirt.
Later, she changed into a reception look that stunned: the “Cassie Sunset Dress” by Nadine Merabi, an ombré mini exploding in sequins, feathers, and fun. The colors—orange, pink, and iridescent neon—mirrored the palette of the day and allowed her to dance freely into the evening.
Bridesmaids wore sleek black dresses with cross-front necklines, layered with faux fur shawls by Furious Fur. The groomsmen matched in black tuxedos from The Black Tux, while feather bow ties from Mandujour added a playful twist.
From Ceremony to Celebration
The couple’s ceremony unfolded beneath a radiant Telluride sun, with ghost chairs facing a floral altar installation framed by panoramic mountain views. Guests walked a floral-lined runway to find their seats—umbrellas thoughtfully provided to shield them from the bright alpine light.
A string quartet from Telluride Strings performed “Unchained Melody” by Elvis Presley as LeAnn made her entrance, setting the tone for a moment steeped in sentiment and natural grandeur.
Inside The Peaks Resort & Spa, the reception ambiance continued to dazzle. Serpentine and round tables layered with high-low florals and taper candles created a dynamic, intimate scene. Letterpressed menus coordinated with guests’ entrée selections—a touch as functional as it was chic.
Guests hit the black-and-white checkered dance floor beneath floating florals and disco lights, the mood electric as Diamond Empire Band’s lead singer Dee brought the house down with every note. The couple’s first dance to “Sweet Symphony” by Joy Oladokun featuring Chris Stapleton embodied their love story—soulful, authentic, and completely their own.
Surprise Moments & Unforgettable Touches
Among the evening’s most jaw-dropping moments? A surprise flash mob staged by the Telluride Theatre. Just as James began an impromptu speech, performers marched in with a towering wedding cake—only to drop it in front of stunned guests. The shock dissolved into cheers when James Brown’s “Get Up Offa That Thing” kicked in and the “cake catastrophe” turned into a choreographed dance party that swept everyone into the reception room.
The couple also hosted a welcome party complete with custom chain-stitched Pendleton beanies and bandanas by Contrarium Chainstitch. Their farewell brunch featured local favorite Crepeful Heads, serving up fresh crepes as guests said goodbye to the mountains.
The Food & Sweet Finish
Every bite told a story. The menu by Counter Culture included lavender-crusted beef tenderloin and prosciutto-stuffed chicken breast with seasonal vegetables. Vegetarian guests raved about the sweet potato gnocchi in a velvety bruschetta cream.
Signature drinks like the Rocky Mountain Mule kept spirits high, while Jacque’s Sweet Treats offered a decadent dessert bar with everything from strawberry champagne cake to red velvet cake pops and snickerdoodle cookies. Even “Dirt in a Cup”—chocolate pudding with Oreo crumbles—made a nostalgic, fun appearance.
James and LeAnn’s wedding serves as a reminder to stay true to your quirky, weird selves come wedding day – even if it means orchestrating a fake disaster followed by a dance number to get the party going!
