Katie and Gerik’s love story began in high school, where they first met as seniors and stayed together through college. After building a life together in Omaha, Nebraska, Gerik popped the question during a vacation in Phoenix, Arizona. As they began their wedding planning journey, the high school sweethearts immediately knew they wanted a mountaintop wedding in Vail, Colorado.

“We wanted our guests to get a true mountain experience at our wedding and fall in love with Vail the same way we have over the years,” says Katie.

With a shared love for outdoor adventures, it was only natural for Katie and Gerik to choose a mountaintop setting for their big day. Their venue, The 10th, provided a breathtaking natural backdrop for the couple’s special day. The on-mountain restaurant offers an upscale dining experience and overlooks the stunning Gore Range in the Rocky Mountains. Guests enjoyed a truly unforgettable experience, arriving at the ceremony via gondola—an enclosed aerial lift that transported them up the mountain while showcasing Vail’s incredible scenery.

Set against a lush green mountainscape, Katie and Gerik’s ceremony was nothing short of magical. With the help of their vendors and wedding planner, every detail came together seamlessly. Amy Lauren’s floral designs in shades of green, white, and pink complemented the natural surroundings beautifully, enhancing the romantic atmosphere as the couple exchanged vows, marking the beginning of their next chapter together.

For the reception, the couple envisioned a relaxed ambiance where they could fully enjoy the night with their loved ones. Their planner, Gemini Planning and Design, brought their vision to life, while draping from LMD Productions and rentals from Colorado Party Rentals added warmth and refinement to the space.

“The vendors truly make or break a wedding experience, and Vail Valley has some of the most incredible people—we feel so lucky we got to work with them,” says Gerik.

One of the highlights of the night was the SocialLight black-and-white photo booth, where guests captured fun, candid moments as keepsakes to take home. Meanwhile, DJ Greg Garman ensured the celebration lasted into the night with a lively set to keep the dance floor packed.

Looking back, Katie and Gerik couldn’t be more grateful for the talented vendors who made their wedding feel effortless. Jamee Photography captured every moment and the essence of the celebration, allowing them to relive their special day, while their planner, Meridith Lowe, eased the process and ensured that everything went smoothly from start to finish.

“Our wedding day was truly perfect in our eyes because of the amazing work, time, and dedication our vendors put into the event,” says Gerik.

To future couples planning their wedding, the newlyweds offer one piece of advice: “Enjoy every second—it all goes by so fast!”

With a love story spanning nearly a decade, Katie and Gerik’s mountaintop wedding in Vail was the perfect start to their forever.
