Cabo Vacation for Everyone

Although many couples gravitate toward a traditional wedding in their hometown, not every couple wants to stay local for their big day. Sometimes the thought of planning a large wedding can seem daunting, which is why it’s important to remember a wedding is not one-size-fits-all. For Nicole and Luke, a local country club wedding with a lengthy guest list felt overwhelming. The idea to have a smaller, more intimate destination wedding in Cabo seemed like the obvious choice.

Fortunately, for Nicole and Luke, both of their families were supportive in their decision to host a destination wedding. Although keeping the size of their wedding under 30 people required carefully picking and choosing their guest list, the couple knew that getting married in Cabo was the right decision for them.

“My husband and I went to Cabo for a vacation two years ago and loved it so much, we went back with my family last Christmas,” the bride says. “Cabo felt like the perfect place for us.”

Once the couple found a stunning location on the sandy beaches of Mexico, the key to pulling off a successful destination wedding was their wedding planner, Jesse, from Cabo Wedding Services. Hiring a wedding planner allowed the couple to be present and enjoy their special day while Jesse handled the couple’s concerns and ensured everything ran smoothly.

“I recommend handing over the reins to your wedding planner on the wedding day and relaxing and going with the flow, whatever happens,” Nicole said. “It’s your day to enjoy. Don’t let the stress take away from that.”

The bride added that she thinks the most important aspect of choosing a wedding planner is finding someone who you trust and has a similar taste.

Although the bride and groom’s travel expenses for a beachfront wedding in Cabo were pricier than if they had opted for a local wedding, Nicole estimates they would have spent more money on the event if they had stayed local and invited more guests.

In order to accommodate the smaller number of guests who would be traveling, the couple recommended three hotels in Cabo for all of their friends and family to stay at throughout the course of the wedding festivities.

“Our groups were too small to get a discount at any one hotel, so we found a budget hotel in the city and everyone had a great time there,” Nicole says.

The bride and groom also budgeted for the wedding expenses by factoring in a 10 percent contingency to prepare for anything that might go unplanned and cost money to fix.

For couples like Nicole and Luke, getting married in Cabo San Lucas is the perfect opportunity for a relaxing getaway and wedding all in one.

“I couldn’t believe how well all my ideas pulled together on the wedding day,” the bride said. “I think my wedding would have been less unique and less my own design if we had stayed local.”
