Deciding on a destination for your wedding day can be a daunting task. Luckily, for Coty and Jorden it was as simple as having faith that their favorite island paradise, Maui, would deliver.
“We have always loved vacationing in Maui, and having all of our family and friends there together sounded like so much fun.”
While Maui continues to be a popular destination for weddings, COVID-19 restrictions have made large-scale planning more challenging. But it was a challenge that the couple was willing to take on.
“Hawaii has very specific travel restrictions in place because of COVID,” says Jorden. “We did our research appropriately and created a detailed list of instructions for our guests to follow. Almost everyone was able to make it!”
With guests’ safety taken into consideration, Jorden and Coty proceeded with planning their dream oceanside ceremony with help from wedding coordinator, Tina Digman with Food for the Soul Catering and Events.
“We coordinated most everything via email, and also made a trip out there ahead of time to see the venue and meet our photographer, Tara Lee,” says the bride.
Visiting the island allowed for the couple to make the days leading up to the ceremony a vacation for all. With a smaller guest list, the couple was able to spend quality time with everyone, hosting a beach day, an evening BBQ by the pool and a welcome dinner.
The summer beachside wedding could not have been a more quintessential Hawaiian day, as loved ones gathered on the lush green lawn of the Olowau Plantation House. In front of the postcard-esque background, the couple stood together framed by palm trees swaying around them. The only detail out of place was the absent officiant.
“Our officiant no-showed,” says Jorden, “But in the end, my husband’s mother stepped in and performed the ceremony!”
With the groom’s mother officiating the wedding, the couple vowed to walk beside each other through whatever life throws their way and sealed the deal with a kiss in front of the crystal blue waters.
